She is right. It is a privilege to get older. My first husband was killed by a drunk driver when I was 23. It made me never take any day for granted. I stopped caring about what anyone else thinks at about 40. My second marriage has lasted 46 years so far and I cherish him so much.

You never expect to get old even though you know that it is how life works but you don't fully realize how powerless you are to stop it until you start hitting milestone ages. The worst is when you get older and you try to convey your message to younger people only to realize that people tried to convey that exact same message to you when you were younger and you didn't take it to heart enough.
