What's most disturbing is that the police didn't think that a woman being attacked in her apartment was an urgent situation, and didn't think that her call for help and multiple reports of gunshots being heard warranted breaking down the door. If they had gotten there in a timely manner, maybe the women could have been saved...

Actually, in Gary’s case, the window did NOT break! Due to repeated stress, the FRAME did give way though. So he got to ride the pane to the sidewalk. Never underestimate the dangers of metal fatigue. Ask any airline mechanic!
