Because the USGS downgrades anything between 5-6 into a "nothing-burger" 4.9 as if they are all the same.
They do this so ppl don't panic, but you shouldn't round up or round down Richter scale numbers.

With millions of people covering every square foot of the land, its not surprising that an earthquake is widespread.

There have been over 350 earthquakes just west of the I-5/Hwy-99 junction in the last 24 hours (from 8/6 8pm-8pm 8/7). From 1.0-5.2 Richter.

Why don't you tell us which fault line the quake occurred on? IT MATTERS -- if it was on the San Andreas, this quake would actually be a great thing because moderate quakes relieve stress on the fault. The more moderate quakes on that fault, the better (as long as people aren't hurt and as long as significant property damage doesn't occur).

in the 90's we had two 7's here in the high desert of California, centered out of Joshua Tree. Our house was under construction. No damage,
No big deal.

and Dutchsense called this to happen. I was listening to his livestream last night. Crazy that he gets censored for giving his "opinion" on where and when and size quakes may strike. I've been learning something over the past few years.... whenever you start getting censored means you are likely on target to something that "big brother" prefers you not go there. PS things are going to get much worse...

I have your answer already. The government wants to take events that are normal, recurring things in California (earthquakes), and make it seem like it's the end of the world and the reason for climate change theory. The young generation has no idea how many earthquakes I felt in the LA area in the 1980s. If anything, they've receded.
