it felt so strong with just 4.4. Cannot imagine a 7, let alone an 8, and there have been so many 4+ ones recently...

I just sat here and wondered if it was going to stop or be a wild ride 😂

That is a pre shock
I am born and raised in Alaska and that is a bump not a quake

I was too focused on my mozzarella sticks to notice 😅

It's when earthquakes and volcanos don't happen that you need to worry.
But I'm glad it wasn't huge!

I lived in SoCal briefly during the early 1960’s. I experienced a 4.0 and a 4.2. I was east of San Diego. Those two quakes epicentered east of LA. The 4.2 was noticeably stronger than the 4.0. People don’t understand that the Richter scale is not linear. It is exponential. Each subsequent unit is ten times stronger than the previous unit.
We also felt the Great Alaska earthquake of Good Friday 1964. As I recall that quake was Richter 9.2 lasting 4 minutes. We felt a course vibration in La Mesa, California. I have respect for earthquakes. We don’t get many here in the upper midwest.

I was shopping at Dollar Tree when it happened. Could hear things falling off shelves and crashing and this time i could honestly say, "It wasnt me".

If you live in LA, earthquakes should be the LEAST of your concerns.

It’s amazing how earthquake habits vary by region. I’ve notice that California earthquakes tend to be quake and strong lol. I’d freak out feeling a sharp jolt like that. We had a 4.8 here near NYC a few months ago. All I felt was minor vibrating. No hard thump like this.

I was in car at a stop light in San Pedro. The car was swaying left to right.

I was in East la when that happened, so close to the epicenter note, I'm a kid so I ran to who knows where trying to go to a table

Earthquakes, mudslides, wild fires, rock fallings, droughts, smog, traffic nightmares, homelessness and the headquarters for serial killers are all reasons I'll NEVER live in southern California. You can have it!

I've experienced a 30 second 5.1 in Rhodes, Greece, and there was no violent jerk like that. It just rocked the furniture and banged the wardrobe against the wall a few times. I guess it depends on its depth.
