He was likely scapegoated for the killings of actual wolves. Guns weren't common in those days, and he had lots of pristine land. His confession was coerced through torture, and they killed his mistress and daughter as well. Of course it gets a lot more attention when you frame his as the Dracula of Lycans 😅

To be fair, it's possible he had a mental illness and potentially really was a serial killer. The amount of profitable land that was seized after his death makes this story dubious at best.

Peter Stump's story it just makes me feel bad for him. He was imprisioned, torchered, and executed on a ridiculous argument even by 1500's standards. The fact that his mistress and his last living daughter were also executed makes me think it was like the Salem Witch Trials were they triad him just to take his Farm and land. It's another one of those stories that makes me glad I live today instead of the Past.
