Laser cutting a laser cutter enclosure | Longer Ray 5 20W

I recently got a Longer Ray 5 20W Laser cutter. It's fantastic, but it needs an enclosure.

Here I use the Ray 5 to cut it's own enclosure out of plywood.

Longer sent me this laser for free, but all opinions expressed are my own.

I never subscribed to someone as quick as I did with you. Your voice is super calming, thank you for having that voice.

It's a really nice box and I really like the approach to use the laser itself to create its enclosure. 🙂It's a great video!
I too would love to get the parts plans in a more user-friendly format (svg/dxf) since Fusion 360 is difficult to learn for one project only.

Congrats on getting David Attenborough to narrate your videos!

Thank you for this video. Of all the videos I have watched, yours is the best DIY and the fact that the laser had to cut the material for itself. Please do share an SVG/DXF File for ease of use and manipulation in Lightburn Software

Why has no one told me there's a finger joint addon for fusion before!? :O

This turned out really good!

What a great video. I tried to download the files but unfortunately I only get error messages that the file is corrupt. It would indeed be great if these were available in a DXF file

Hey man I don’t know if you’re active anymore but I’m wondering if I can make a suggestion: make some videos on using that robot arm research you’ve been doing over the past few years to create a very very budget 3d printer, or just a 3d printer in general using a home made robotic arm. These systems have not received much attention and I believe they deserve more than they get.

Hello! Glad to say I've started the proccess to build my own enclosure... Thank you so much, your video is so helpfully, and your project using Fusion 360 is the best part of all, because my laser cutter can't cut the same dimensions... Because of that, I've started a learning path of Fusion 360, what amazing tool dude!
I've generated all dwf files needed to cut but using 6mm mdf(my laser cut are Two Trees, and the weight is too low.
Thanks again, soon the project is finished, I publish a invite to you to know my enclosure in social media.

This is a fine video and a fine project. Well done. Thank you for sharing the f3d files. Unfortunately, many of us do not have Fusion 360 at the ready. Its wonderful, but expensive and complex. I have to assume that someone has produced svg files for this project. Many of the commenter have asked for such. Can you help us get svg files so we can make a bunch of these?

Waw, really cool! Why not run some tests on different materials, number of passes, cut speed etc...
I would like to find out how well it performs on acrylic, hard wood, metal. Give it a try please... (20mm hard wood and 2mm aluminium would be nice).

Thank you. This is an excellent and well thought project. Can you please make us a short menu illustrating how you actually made the Box joints in Fusion360 with the App. I installed it but cannot get it to join. It will be greatly appreciated.

Such an awesome job, nice going... so glad you did the larger item with a smaller laser, people keep saying "oh you can't do that cause the side is too large, and i was completely baffled why you couldn't just do it in two... cheers for the video, bought an enclosure yesterdag, damn😅 but sure i'll want to upgrade at some point cheers for that👊 p.s the teeth stripping wire gave me a good giggle, and reminded me of my dads super safety skills with such things😆

Hi, I thought I had found the perfect enclosure, you supplied the CAD files. Great I thought. One problem. I have no idea how to use the CAD files to produce the files to cut the components from. I have opened them in Fusion 360, but at 61 my feeble brain has no idea what to do. Any chance of a quick video or do you know of one on YouTube to show me how please.
Thanks, Mark
