I usually use it the other way around with the red protective ball in the cable loom, since the other blade is quite pointy and sharp and could potentially damage the wires

You sir are the first in a long time to tell me something about tools that I didn't already know. Thank you for the tip.
God bless

Thank you. Use the ball protected end while cutting the tape to prevent poking the wires. Have a great week.

The telecommunications company I work for have been using these for tears when unravelling and stripping cables prior to splicing. Great to see this useful tool is being used in other industries.

Seam splitter for seeing. I took one out of my wife's sewing kit for electrical. Awesome video.

I'm in the fiber optic industry and our cables come with Kevlar strings around the fiber tubes. Seam rippers are by far the easiest and safest way to get in

Humble mechanic shared this tip awhile ago. Bought 8 seam rippers for 7$ on amazon. Awesome tool for skinning wiring looms.

Thank you for this tip has saved me hours and tons of fixing . I found if u flip the ripper over and put the red bit inside instead of the long side in spot it is amazing

I work in industrial automation. I've been looking for a good tool to strip the sheathing of multi conductor cable. Every tool I've tried barely works or instantly breaks. I'm definitely going to have to give this a try!

If you look around, you can find exactly the same tool but with a much larger rubbery handle, which is a lifesaver for guys with big scarred meat nuggets for fingers.

Makes the job much easier. A good tip shared. 👍🏼

If you don’t know, there are also hook blades for utility knives (box cutters). There are also spring-loaded safety knives in which the blade snaps back inside as soon as it loses the material being cut

Dude… thank you… for a long while now I’ve been trying to find out the name for this “tool”. Before hand I could’ve sworn I seen tool brands selling their own as a dedicated tool but I couldn’t find anything on it, let alone what this “tool” is. Months have passed subconsciously and I’ve been rewarded knowledge. Thank you.

My mum had this with her Pfaff sewing machine. German precision engineering. 50 years and still going strong.

Snapon SGTT4A seam ripper tool has been around for years. Used exactly for this purpose. And the red plastic ball goes UNDER the tape. Not over it.

Never thought to use what we on the west side of the Atlantic grew up knowing as a seam ripper for that job.

THANKS for the tip!
