I always bust the bolts loose first before the belt is off to avoid this type of stuff.

Take the bolts out with an impact gun and you can hold it with your hand

Or you could loosen up the bolts that you need before you take the belt off,

Bolts are broken loose with the belt still on. Now a days I just use my 1/4 extended head Milwaukee electric ratchet. 😊.

Man, I'm brazilian and I have an interest in cars, I have some money saved/left, do you think I should pay for an automotive mechanics course (an in-person/classroom course) or buy an old car to work on small deliveries? Those two options/ideas doesn't leave my mind, but I have money just for one of them 🤔
Sorry for my bad english

Yes, usually loosen before pulling belt, I have an actual tool with a belt strap to hold pulleys I bought 30 years ago. But let's be fair, if you have a torn belt that came off and you happen to be doing a water pump, it would be useful. On some jobs, I pull the pulley, and I don't have to mess with the alt, or ps belt tention when reinstalling. Just recheck for proper tension.

All you arm chair techs what if the belt was gone when the car came in? Leave the repairs to us professionals.
