Advice from a senior: Just enjoy your first year of high school. Realistically it will probably be the easiest year, so figure out whatever works for you. High school is about figuring out who you are. Surround yourself with people who love you for who you are, and you will be just fine. I hope that all of the incoming freshmen have a great year. I see so many freshies in the comments and I wish you good luck!! Here’s my honest interpretation of freshman year:

In the beginning of the year, the workload felt kind of overwhelming. I hadn’t really figured out how to study for classes yet and homework took me all afternoon. But by around Christmas break I realized that things just worked themselves out and I developed better time management skills. Studyquill videos were especially helpful! If things feel overwhelming at first, remember that schoolwork will get easier with time. By December, I was finishing my homework much faster and developed better strategies for studying, like detailed study guides and practice problems.

Honestly, freshman kinda sucked for me because I have bad social anxiety and I went through a pretty bad depression. I’m going into sophomore year and I still don’t really have any friends. If that happens to you (it likely won’t, I’m just an awkward weirdo 😂), remember highschool isn’t the end of the world. Just do the best that you can and try not to let the little things (like a hard class or not a lot of friends) get to you and ruin the rest of your year.

I'm gonna be a freshman soon, , , I'm glad that I didn't have to do zoom for my first year of high school, since I'll be vaccinated by then, but I'm really nervous and afraid that online school has caused me to fall behind

Lmao I’m year 3 in college (is there a name for the college years bc we don’t use those here) and I’m watching this.

My advice on HS? Enjoy school life and you be grateful for your friends and family. Don’t stress too much over classes, (do work hard i mean but not toooo much), if you find yourself doing bad at a subject, try changing different study methods. Graphs and diagrams are gonna help you so much, especially if you are a science student.
Everything would work out, had feelings are temporary. When you get older you’ll find yourself being sad/angry about little things and regret wasting your time doing that. Help and do good to yourself, others and perhaps even objects.

class of 25 here… i am scared for many reasons, but a big reason is because i don’t want to drift from my current best friends :(

please please please don’t stand in the middle of the hallway because you spotted your friend because people will shove you out of the way if they have to, there are many places to stand around and talk to your friends during passing period....

Honors and AP classes are more intense with information and fast pace. I would have tons of summer homework to do before the school year would start. In these classes, they want you to really be independent with studies, know the information by the time you get to class and answer questions that the teacher asks. I had taken Honors and AP classes throughout my high school education. However, I suggest really making friends in your honors and AP classes, or take honor and AP classes with people you know; just having a small group to talk on what is due and what is needed for those classes is essential. I believe that honors and AP classes really set you to get ready for college. Some of my AP classes, if you take the AP test at the end of the year, actually helped me get out of some of my college classes (i.e. a general education english class).

In high school, really have fun, do the things you want to do as well as mentally prepare yourself for college (if you're a junior or senior). Make friendships that can benefit you rather than put you down because the friends you make really help you throughout high school. Good luck upcoming freshmen! You'll do great! It's stressful, but trust me, you'll get through it!

i’m pretty sad about the high school i’m going to. the same people are going to my high school are the people who went to my middle school. and my issue with that is that pretty much all the people at my middle school are assholes. wish me luck!
