I’m a month into secondary school and it’s way better then I expected. It’s much easier to make friends and we need to enjoy the moments while we have them

My best advice is don’t listen to what other people say about you. As long as you are living your best life and you love yourself, then it doesn’t matter what others say because I guarantee they won’t be as happy or feel as loved as you.

I know if you live in England, you start in Y7, but in Northern Ireland you start in Y8, no matter what someone says about you being a first year, you go off and ignore what they said and you carry on to have a brilliant high school life. You will have atleast 2 amazing great teachers among you to help and teach you for your career ahead, and get you ready for your GCSES in Y12 OR Y11. You will have a great learning time in high school. You have the opportunity to make new friends if none of your friends from primary school went to your secondary school, even if friends did come to your new secondary school, it’s still a big opportunity to make new and big friends for the rest of your life. Good luck new Y7s or new Y8s, have a great time in your new secondary school and meet your new favourite teachers and make friends for life. Good luck.🎉

Advice from a yr11 student that made alot of mistakes in skl:
1. Stay true to yourself
2. Don't fit in with the wrong croud
3. Being bad doesn't make you popular
4. Enjoy it, I promise it goes soo fast.

My advice is be the brave one to speak to new people that’s how I’ve made all my new friends as I go to a high school that starts in yr9 I’m going to yr10 now so last year I had this but yeah I spoke to new people first and made lots of friends probably closer friends than ones I had at my previous school

That was me. I was practically shaking while walking to school on my own. I was so nervous and struggled to make friends. Fast forward to now, I am very confident about going to school. I meet up with some friends to walk with, and my advice is: be yourself, don’t change. Enjoy it, be present in the moment, and have fun!

Tips:
Always ask for help, try to make new friends but don't force it, don't leave your primary school friends to be cool or whatever, make sure you know your way around within a few days, it'll help a lot

Here are some of my top 5 tips - im going into year 9
1. Stay AWAY from the popular kids
2.Make sure your teachers dont hate you but not a teachers pet
3.Try pay attention in class or you might miss something important
4.Make as many friends as possible you might not keep all of them but the real ones will stay
5.Try to get used to the school but dont ask students for directions ( they will most likely send u the wrong way ) only ask teachers

Here’s my advice:

Don’t worry about making friends, you’re all in the same boat here in a new school

Homework isn’t too bad, it’s just annoying to do and the most you’ll get is probably 3 pieces a week (but 90% of the time I didn’t have any)

Enjoy year 7, it’s the most laid back and fun year

Don’t change yourself for anyone and don’t do things you don’t want to just because other people are (they’re gonna look stupid in a couple weeks trust me)

Try and stay out of trouble and try your best to go to school cuz some schools give out awards for things like that

Don’t worry about getting into relationships at such an early stage, it causes more problems than it solves

I’ve learnt that the best way to make friends is through extra curriculars

In year seven I joined football, drama and choir and have made many friends from different year groups that I have kept throughout my school life

Be kind! Being cruel or mean isn’t funny or cool it’s just stupid! So be nice to people and you’ll find yourself with a lot less enemies

dont be awkward or shy to make new friends! thats what high school is all about! and remember if you feel like your not so comfortable hanging around certain people, THEN DONT! hang around the people who make you feel like being yourself. it might take a while but you will find the perfect people for you. good luck to everyone starting this year!! ❤️
