what nobody tells you about freshman year // advice for high school freshmen

although I’ve posted about what’s going on numerous times on my instagram, it feels weird to post anything “normal” on social media during such a tragic time. however, I am posting this video in hopes that it will bring you a sense of normalcy.

in light of recent events, I cannot stay silent. there’s SO much I could say, but I’m sure you’ve seen and read many posts already, so I’ll keep this short...

we are all family because we are children of God. our differences should unite us - not divide us. we MUST make a change and love our brothers and sisters the way Jesus loves us 🙏🏻🙏🏼🙏🏽🙏🏾🙏🏿

❊ thank you all for watching! hope you have a blessed day! xx, katie … ps: subscribe so that you don’t miss out on my next video!

i am nervous for highschool, especially since 8th grade year got messed up because of corona, so i missed out on alot of things like the 8th grade trip and we did not even get a graduation, and i have not really had great friendships this year, i felt like nobody talked to me at school, but i really hope that corona does not get bad again, and i hope for some good friendships.

8th grade was not my year I hanged out with the wrong ppl and when i got my social media taken away and quarintine happened my grades suddenly jumped from a non honor student to literally a 4.0. I was shook so was my family. The point is make sure you choose the right people to hangout with and be friends with cuz itś for the better. It opened my eyes and im so ready for highschool

some advice from me as a sophomore (based on my experience)

-some of your friends MAY ditch you for popularity, which is why i always recommend making good friends in your classes, even if u already have a really good friend because they could leave u
-don’t feel pressured to find ur friend group off the bat! it takes time to find ur people! just be yourself around people and they’ll come to you 💕
-pls don’t get a grade 11/12 boyfriend. most of them are just flirting with u to mess with you and you don’t want that
-make sure you give off a friendly and open vibe !! people won’t talk to you if you look serious or mad
-also GO 👏 TO 👏 ORIENTATION !! you’ll get the necessary info you need to navigate the school and also a possible tour
-and my last tip is don’t depend on ur teachers. most hs teachers don’t do shit and don’t explain anything. pay attention as much as possible in class and if you have a question, ask ur classmates/google it first because ur teacher most likely will just make u even more confused

good luck c/o 2024 !!

your friend groups will most likely change but it is okay! you are all growing as people and will change in some way. you will meet lots of new people and find lots of new interests.
disclaimer: just because you aren’t best friends with someone does not mean you won’t still talk and be on good terms... ex best friends ≠ enemies

I'm starting my freshman year this August. I'm worried about getting lost on campus. And my parents keep telling me that I have to look a certain way for certain friends? I dunno, spooky stuff man.

I was so so nervous going into freshman year especially sense I was going from a private school to a HUGE public school. But I really really encourage anyone going into freshman year to do sports and clubs because that is where a found a lot of my friends. And don't be nervous that you won't find friends because my friend group rn is people that I met just this year!!!

My tip would be to stay close friends with people that you knew before going into high school but to also try and make new friends with people you've never met before. ❤️
