I like how my generation of popular kids are literally people who are smart and outgoing. The kids who do bad things are just in their own little world that no one cares about.

LMAO I was bullied in high school for acting “sooo smart” and I was literally getting stalked home, being the target for bullying, and was fought multiple times over nothing. Now I’m in a very prestigious university while the girls who dissed me are pregnant, unemployed, or struggling in general. And I’m not saying that they deserve that….but karma is real kids!!! Don’t be a bully in high school because karma will get you 👍🏼😃

While I def agree with some of the points here, there are some things that irk me. Specifically the part about having “no time to be depressed”. As someone with the diagnosis, I don’t have the time to be depressed either but it’s still there. People just power through it. I still focus on my goals but am able to recognize my mental health is shit and I need to improve.

I definitely agree that NOBODY in high school cares about the embarrassing stuff you went through. Looking back, I'm the only one embarrassed for the mistakes and mishaps that happened to me. No one, literally no one, has ever brought any of it up. Your classmates and peers also have some shit they're embarrassed about that they think everyone remembers. Try to think about it this way: think of one classmate and try to remember one embarrassing thing they did during high school. You see, the embarrassing scenarios of other people rarely enter our minds, as we always focus on ourselves, our mistakes, and our blunders. This also applies to everyone. Literally no one thinks about you 24/7, if they do, they're probably obsessed with you, which is problematic.

I feel like a lot of these facts we knew, we just needed someone older then us to clarify that it really helps

Honestly my mom told me, “Aim for a C minimum, and if you’re getting a C try and push it to a B. If you’re getting a B try and push it to an A.” And honestly I live by that. Get the bare minimum in, then build up to your real goals

I also ask myself the question of "will this matter in 5 years time?" among others like "will someone remember this in some years?" or "if I saw someone doing what I want to do, would I judge them?". This last one is very useful since every time the answer is "yes" I reflect on myself and/or on that thing I want to do.

Unpopular opinion: High School is easy when you are a healthy human being.

I agree with you on mostly everything except the "grades define you". I feel like people who didn't have a difficult time with their mental health or have to deal with difficult situations at home are the ones who say letter grades reflect how hard working or good you are. Being forced to split focus on both school and another dire situation would effect anyone. If your having a hard time and your grades are extreamly low, those don't reflect who you are! I'd say to keep working on focusing on yourself so you can get better. Everyone deals with situations differently. Don't let a letter grade diminish your self esteem, especially in highschool when your asked to do a lot of hw while trying your best to live in whatever difficult situation your dealing with. First focus on yourself getting better and soon after your grades will reflect that.

thing to do during high school: never fall in love with your classmates

It's very funny to me that my school is completely different to the ones you described. The generally more liked kids are the ones who get the best grades and no one smokes
and some kids even go to university on the side while we're in 10th grade

Edit: I live in Germany so that might be another changing factor

I myself realized that when I focus on other people, I get bad grades. But when I focus on myself, I usually get very good grades, sometimes better than students I considered “impossible to beat” (spoiler: they’re not). So guys, listen to sister Simone, focus on YOUR goals and GO STUDY <3

As a senior, I wish I had joined school activities. When I was in junior high school (we don't have middle school here), I was incredibly awkward, insecure, reserved, and distant. I really regret not getting into ANY school activities (I still haven't btw 🤡), because I recently saw how important it is to join school activities, especially because I'll be applying to college soon (😭). But yeah, enjoy middle school/junior high school. Have fun with your studies, because some of the stuff their teaching are actually interesting.

my highschool experience and tips so far:

my highschool was the brokest, not popular, not populated, and was probably the most ghetto in town.

people there always smoked weed and it smelt like shit throughout the hallways. people would always stay in the hallways or stairways bc the cafeteria is small.

our student council only consisted a few members, usually doing two roles at a time. no one cared about voting for a president or any kind of speech or publicity so the teachers needed to choose the best candidate. i don’t even know myself who the student council is. i did want to join a club before but i never heard anything about it. they’ve never announced enough about clubs or built in posters or people to share. apparently in my school was an art club, eco club, sports club, and none of my friends knew that.

making friends was easy in my school since it was so small. most of us were usually alone. everyone was usually on their phones. they would hang out in their own friend group. i was already in a friend group and that’s why i came to that school. i’ve actually lost a lot of my friends after being in highschool. i grew distant to my middle school classmates and basically ghosted most of them. it’s not really a big deal in the end because it’s normal.

the only thing that i liked about my school was how diverse it was. there was many different types of asians and dark skinned people, it was amazing to see how cultural they were on some special occasions.

we are not allowed to use our lockers. idk why but covid is apparently involved. so far there’s been two covid cases in our school. i remember everyone was complaining because we had to carry a lot of resources. i had to bring two bags to school and carry it throughout the day in pain.

i remember there was a trend where there’ll be accounts of students having their picture taken depending on the topic. for example, bad posture. on instagram it was really popular. literally every school except ours had fun with that. i was so jealous. our school is just so bad. there’s nothing like semi-formal here or any types of parties.

i visited another high school on a volleyball game, they were so much better, clean, populated, and had way better space. i just hate the fact i’ve missed out so much fun things like spirit week or clubs bc of my shit school.

plz do your things in high school, join clubs or participate in the events. you are going to regret how much fun you didn’t have before.

ps DONT STAND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HALLWAY WITH A FRIENDGROUP it’s so annoying trying to past
ps DONT SMOKE ANYWHERE INDOORS

I’m a senior and getting ready to graduate. I agree with basically everything you said. The two most important things you brought up was grades and college. If you don’t NEED to go to college for you career, don’t. Debt is crippling. The other one is grades. All you have to do is your assignments. I have a track record of being bad at tests, but I’ve always had a 3.5 and above gpa because consistently do my homework. Do you homework kids
