Many of the muscles in the leg cross the knee joint, and when they are tight, they put extra pressure on the knee joint. Some of the main muscles that cross the knee are the calf muscles, hamstrings, quads, and IT band. Also, the hip flexors are important to stretch as well even though they don’t cross the knee joint.

There are many ways to stretch these muscles, and you can do the one that works best for you.

I suddenly had an inner knee pain and swelling 2 days ago up until today. It was extremely painful to the touch and I couldn’t walk properly. I cried so bad the 2nd night because I couldn’t get a good sleep position because of the extreme pain. Last night I found this video and tried it out. Did the stretches a couple of times slowly and OMG it worked! I can reposition my legs without that horrible pain. Theres still pain but its better now after these exercises. Thank you so much Dr. Jo! your the best!

The post by the person below who wrote about the sudden inner knee pain causing extreme pain at night could have been written by me! SAME! After one time using this series of exercises, I slept for 8 hours last night (unheard of for me) for the first time in weeks and I awoke pain free without having to steady myself on my legs when I stood up. AND I also suffer from extreme Body spasms that have caused the middle toe on each foot to point out on an angle affecting my other toes. There is also numbness in my second and third toes. This stretching-just one set!- has made a jaw dropping improvement. It’s unbelievable actually. I don’t know how I had the good fortune to find this video but it is now in my personal health archive for use every day. THANKYOU for being so generous to share !!!! ❤

These really helped me very quickly. I've had right knee issues for about 5 weeks. Rx not helping. I tied two canvas belts together to make the strap. After one day of doing these on my office floor, I already had relief! Today is day two and the healing is very impressive. Wish I had found this weeks ago! Thank you DoctorJo!

Thank you! Will try some of these. My knee cap got dislocated two years ago and no one ever told me to do anything for it. So, now I am struggling with knee pain from time to time.

I feel far too young to have such severe knee pain, but 🤷‍♀️. Stuck at home during this covid stuff, it’s been a real bummer. I didn’t want to go to a medical facility unnecessarily so looked stuff up here. I’m so glad I did! I would say after doing these stretches once, my knee felt 50% better. Three days later, I’m still doing the stretches and am 80% better. I so appreciate this.

I need a knee replacements as I have degenerative arthritis in both knees. I’ve gotten cortisone shots already and that helped some. Tomorrow I start physical therapy and I just wanted to check out videos on it and came across these. I can do these stretches however I can not get on my knees for those other stretches mentioned and need to know if there’s an alternative to them. This was helpful info to see.

Hi Dr. Jo! I have been struggling with knee pain for about a year due to a bone bruise. I was told that with time and physical therapy it would get better but it hasn't. I have knee pain on the side of my knee. They said it may have been a result of the knee over compensating for my ankle because I fractured it a few years back. They said my alignment in my knee is off. Do you think I these will help my pain?
