In the last few months I’ve given up using coconut oil in cooking which was mostly for homemade vegan cheese. The leftover coconut oil is a fantastic skin moisturizer so it’s not going to waste😀. I mostly water sauté too but use a little olive oil when roasting potatoes.

Awesome video!! I love all the "nerdy science" info, as you call it! It's what distinguishes your video from all of the anecdotal and completely unscientific information that people are inundated by these days. I've started to pay more attention to my intake of essential fatty acids and iodine thanks to your videos! See vegetables are delicious, I've been missing out!!

One thing you didn't mention is that some of the gut flora make butyric acid (a saturated fatty acid), which we can then absorb, so we're getting it whether we eat it or not. And our own adipose tissue contains palmitic acid, so when we 'burn' our body fat for energy, we are metabolising saturated fat. This shows that the body wants to use saturated fatty acids, but it's not essential since we don't need to eat it to get it.

Yes, thank you, excellent points made here. I especially like the fact that saturated fat as part of the 'whole' plant based food is not the problem as it is how nature made it. The problem is 'isolating' that fat and packaging it, such as with coconut oil and olive oil.

#askgojiman you talk a lot about healing the gut. I believe I may have leaky gut so I'm going to get the intestinal permeability test that you recommend. If it comes positive would a low fodmap diet be the best to follow while healing? Of course along with the supplements you recommended and probiotic foods. Thanks in advance.

I can understand. In Sardegna, a blue zone region, they use a lot of olive oil. However, Italy and Spain are importing a lot of olives and derivatives from Tunisia because is cheaper. The overall quality of extra virgin olive oil is dropping because in Tunisia are using a lot of pesticides and cheap technologies (no food safety protocols) . Sardegna in not importing products from Tunisia because they have a particular status and they can escape from UE laws. However, Sardegna can not export Kasu marzu (typical cheese with worms) because of the UW laws.

Gojiman, you should turn off your auto-focus and set on manual focus to that way you will always be perfectly in focus as long as stay at the distance you set it at.

I ate vegan split of mostly healthy during week, with occasional junk food.
total cholesterol 156, no LDL reading, blood pressure pre hypertension. With exercise (lifting/cardio)

Went total oil free, salt, sugar, junk food free (Caldwell essylstein style)
total cholesterol 139, no LDL reading, blood pressure 98/65 Walking for exercise only.

Went mostly healthy occasional weekend junk food. Daily calories coming from Dave’s killer bread and lots of oil free low sodium peanut butter and blueberry jelly (no added sugar etc). Total cholesterol 160, no LDL reading, blood pressure pre hypertension. With exercise

Oil free, and keeping lower saturated fat intake, less junk food, blood pressure stays around 105/68, cholesterol dropped again. Without small amount of exercise.

Seems the saturated fat in even plant foods and vegan junk foods really is not good for you lol

Having some raw vegan goji berry- acai and blueberry low fat cake that I made :D .
(Made with raw coconut flour that has over 40g of fiber per 100g, dateorade = dates + water, acai, soaked goji berries and fresh wild blueberries ) . Great video ! I also happen to love goji berries:D so high in iron, beta-carotene and other amazing nutrients
