A lot of people have been in need of saltwater and pier fishing help lately. Today, I am going to show how to use a long line fishing rig paired with our specialty Squidy Bits fishing bait to target striped bass while pier fishing in Maryland. Striped bass (also known as stripers or rockfish) like to eat when it’s still dark out, so I’m nice and early to try to target some keepers. What’s your favorite time of day to go fishing?
Today, I have 3 goals:
1)Catch a keeper size striped bass for both me and Erin
2)Use that striped bass to make a Gyotaku print
3)Cook that fresh catch up for dinner
It's an early start to the day, but oh so worth it! There’s nothing like spending your morning catching some keepers with your fiance.

you really need to tighten your drag, your using a Stella with the best drag in the market but its going off on a 20 inch stripper while reeling. That’s why you kept loosing those fish on the hook set.

Watch your videos all the time. I just started making fishing a hobby and your videos have helped me so much. I started implementing your diy rigs and caught my first shark, my first huge red, and I've caught a bunch of bait fish as well.

Enjoy the videos guys. I gotta ask tho, do you just let the keepers suffocate? It's the worst way to let them die and they do suffer. It affects the taste too. Here in Aus it's common to headstrike them or brain spike to instantly kill.

Hey mate I’ve always enjoyed fishing but never really been too successful and never knew what I was doing wrong after watching a heap of your vids I’ve changed to circle hooks, the size of bait and how I bait the hook also fishing 2 hours before and after tide change. With this new knowledge I have thanks to your vids I caught the most fish I have ever caught in a day yesterday and the circle hooks set themselves thanks mate keep it up

Brandon you really need to tighten your drag man. Reeling while the drag is slipping is what is causing you to get line twist. It happens with spinning reels but not level wind or bait casters.

I go Spearfishing early morning when it’s dark and there can b loads of fish doing their thing. As soon as it gets light they all disappear. Especially the good ones. The only thing to do is get there earlier 👍👍👍

Good time to target rockfish - just before and right after sunrise. Good job. Judging by where you are I think this is the incoming tide.

I love a whole rainbow trout fried like that, in butter, garlic, and whole sliced lemon all together.

I’m from RI and keeping a 19” striper is crazy for me. If it was like than up here you could catch 30+ keepers a day

🤣🤣🤣 I'm reading the below comments on the drag...which yeah man it was too loose...something I learned as well is to buy a digital scale and get the feel to adjust the dial. I bought one to figure getting the 30% off rule to your mainline adjustment feel. Something to share beginners out there to have an idea. But awesome catches brotha about time I see real decent catches. And yes bridge slammers always come out at night. I've already noticed the difference on night summertime fishing. The water is cooler and ive seen schools of Tarpon, Snooks, Sharks, monster Groupers and nice size Snappers hitting from 9pm till sunrise. I had to upgrade to conventional reels and stronger heavy rods to fight these fish... it's been that crazy fishing and amazed to experience this style of fishing.

i really wish squiddy bits worked for me (tentacles) but i have barely had any luck. made some of my own salted shrimp and got my first ever rockfish (had to throw it back too small and not allowed right now). i’m very skeptical on the squiddy bits. i’ve used blood worms, nightcrawlers, shrimp, razor clams, on a top bottom rig and have only caught one small spot on the squiddy bits... and caught many fish on the non-squiddy bit hook. maybe i got a bad batch i don’t know. i will say its definitely tough and can’t stay on the hook for a long time... but that isn’t helpful if nothing bites it!

With the Bull run coming could you explain why the British pully rigs and other clip style rigs aren't used on the east coast?
