this is a nice tip if they are just barely nipping at the tail but it sacrifices a lot of action. At that point i think switching to a drop shot would be peak

Been doing this for years with senkos and it also works great with floating trick worms. The trick worms get a walking action on the surface when you Tex rig them in the middle like this.

Yep exactly the way my grandfather taught me in the 1980s. Not only weedless, and snagless. But you've also hitting the hook from the fish. It's a win-win technique

Ok dont hate on this. The action will of course be different but if the fish are biting the tail its super useful. Such tricks are used in my area for catching a snapper species that almost always bites at the tail
