Yes, Protestantism is a Heresy

In this video, I introduce my basic argument between what I call Historic Christianity (Catholicism and Orthodoxy) and Protestantism which has not primary sources outside the Bible to support their interpretations.

The church is built on Apostles and Prophets, Christ being the chief cornerstone. (Eph 4:20)

The Holy Scripture was written by Prophets and Apostles. That's why the Holy Scripture is supreme over our traditions. If our tradition contradicts Scripture, then our tradition should be wrong, not Scripture.

@Tab and Ken *You are totally wrong George Penton. Nowhere says its "works of the law" only. Apostle Paul was clear. It referred to any form of works. Not just works of the law. Try reading the Bible. It is clear you don't.*

*Bible is clear: Salvation is Not By All Forms of Works - Not works of law, Not works of righteousness, Not good works.*

*NOT GOOD WORKS*
2Ti 1:9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,
Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
Eph 2:9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

*NOT WORKS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS*
Tit 3:5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

*NOT WORKS OF THE LAW*
Gal 2:16 knowing that a man is not [i]justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.

@alf ray *Original Greek says REPENTANCE. You are just misquoting and changing the word Repentance into Penance!!! Rev 22:18-19 is for you!!*

Mat 3:8 Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance,
Mat 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
Mat 9:13 But go and learn what this means: 'I DESIRE MERCY AND NOT SACRIFICE.' For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance."
Mar 1:4 John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
Mar 2:17 When Jesus heard it, He said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance."
Luk 3:3 And he went into all the region around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins,
Luk 3:8 Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance, and do not begin to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.
Luk 5:32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance."
Luk 15:7 I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.
Luk 24:47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Act 5:31 Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.
Act 11:18 When they heard these things they became silent; and they glorified God, saying, "Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life."
Act 13:24 after John had first preached, before His coming, the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.
Act 19:4 Then Paul said, "John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus."
Act 20:21 testifying to Jews, and also to Greeks, repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

@alf ray *You are blatantly misquoting Scriptures. Acts 9:31 clearly does not say its ROman Catholic Church which came in AD300s. Acts 9:31 speaks of the Christian Church that spread throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria. NOT ROME!*

Act 9:31 Then the churches throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were edified. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied.

YOU:
Catholic Church means "universal church" which is described clearly in ACTS 9:31, which is one and in communion with each other (all churches).

So what I'm hearing is, "we are older as an institution, therefore we are right." I smell an "appeal to tradition" logical falicy, meanwhile you ignore the very real and well founded theological reasons why Luther and the other reformers broke away in the first place.

If arguments such as yours had been listened to in the early ADs during the infant years of the Early Church, we would all be practicing Judaism today. After all, Christendom itself was once newer and deviant from an older tradition.

@Tab and Ken *Since when i ever said Paul preached against good works? Stop misrepresenting Christian doctrines. Christian does teach doing good works. That's the 2nd part of Faith Alone doctrine. You see? You know nothing.*

Part 1:
Salvation is Not By WOrks - Eph 2:8-9 (By Faith Alone)

Part 2:
Saved to do good works - Eph 2:10, James 2 (Not by Faith Alone)

you said
the 613 Jewish Commandments. Paul doesn't preach against good works. He calls good works "works of the spirit". And he doesn't preach against the 10 Commandments. Paul says the Commandments are everything.

Hierarchy is all fine. I agree that we need hierarchy in the form of elders, deacons, bishops. The issue is when you say that you need anything other than faith in Christ Almighty for Salvation. That is not scriptural at all.

1. Catholics claim CHURCH refers to Roman Catholic Church. BIBLE says CHURCH refers to all churches. Acts 5:11, Acts 8:1, Mat 16:18. HISTORY tells us Roman Church was just one local Church a member of the Pentarchy.
2. Catholics claim Roman Church was the CHURCH CHRIST founded (First Church) or one true church. BIBLE says First Local Church was Jerusalem Church. Acts 2. Not Roman Catholic Church.
3. Catholics claim there is only One Church. BIBLE mentions both CHURCH and Churches.
“CHURCH” refers to the Body of Christ Eph 5:30, Col 1:18 consisting of all churches. Acts 5:11, Acts 8:1 Mat 16:18.
“Churches” refers to local churches Acts 9:31, Acts 15:41 and believers Romans 16:5, 1 Cor 16:19,
4. Catholics claim to be the first believers. BIBLE says first believers were Jewish Christians. Acts 2, Acts 11:26, NOT roman catholics.
5. Catholics claim Pope is the head of the CHURCH. BIBLE says JESUS is the HEAD OF THE CHURCH. Eph 1:22, Eph 5:23, Col 1:18.
6. Catholics claim outside Roman Church there is NO SALVATION. BIBLE says “apart from Jesus there is NO SALVATION”. Acts 4:12, 1 Cor 3:11.
7. Catholics claim submit to Roman Pontiff to be saved. BIBLE says “apart from Jesus there is NO SALVATION”. Acts 4:12, 1 Cor 3:11.
8. Catholics claim devote to Mary to be saved. BIBLE says “apart from Jesus there is NO SALVATION”. Acts 4:12, 1 Cor 3:11.
9. Catholics claim partake Roman Church sacraments to be saved. BIBLE says “believe in Jesus to be saved”. Acts 16:30-31, John 3:16.
10. Catholics claim Roman Church inherited infallible authority from Peter. BIBLE does not say that in Mat 16 or John 20 or John 21.
11. Catholics claim Roman pontiff inherited infallible authority from Peter. BIBLE does not say that in Mat 16.
12. Catholics claim bishop of ROME = the pope. BIBLE does not say that.
13. Catholics claim there is an office of bishop of bishops/universal bishop/pope. BIBLE does not speak of such an office. History tells us the first bishop of bishops came in AD590-600s.
14. Roman Church has all the false unbiblical clergies - Roman priests, roman cardinals, roman pontiff, monks, nuns, friars, … BIBLE mentions only pastors, teachers, evangelists, prophets, apostles, deacons, bishop, elders. Titus 1:5, Eph 4:11, 1 Tim 3.
15. Roman Church claim its doctrines come from traditions of Apostles. BUT 95% of roman doctrines are NOT from traditions of Jesus or Apostles or Scriptures; neither practised by NT Church of the BIBLE.

@Andree Attieh *Anything not from traditions of Jesus and APostles (2 Thes **2:15**) were traditions of men. Mat 15, Mat 23.*

*Acceptable Traditions:*
*Bible does speak of traditions of Jesus and Apostles we hold fast to. 2 Thes **2:15*

*Unacceptable Traditions:*
*But .... Bible rejects m m unbiblical traditions of men, Mat 15, 23; such as those of Pharisees and R Church. These are traditions apart from those of Jesus and Apostles. 95% of R Church doctrines falls into this category.*

*95% of R Church doctrines were unheard of in 1st century and not from traditions of Jesus and Apostles or Scriptures or contradicts Scriptures! Jesus, Apostles and Nt Church of the Bible had not heard or practised any of these Rc doctrines.*

1. Purgatory 2. Confessing to priests 3. Office of pope or priests4. Pope being the vicar (representation of Christ, usurping the authority of God)5. Praying to Mary, saints6. Penance 7. Worshipping idols/images, placing idols images in church8. Church in the Bible is not building, but the body of believers9. Sacrament was never the real body and blood of Christ as RC church claimed (Real meaning real blood and body, bcos it didnt really turned "bloody" did it?)10. Salvation by (works (7sacraments) +faith) was never in the Bible. Real salvation is by grace through faith as seen in Bible. 11. Rosary, set repetitive prayers, hail Mary 10000 times12. Mass - putting Christ on the altar again and again13. Mary as queen of heaven 14. Mary as Ark of the new covenant. 15. Mary as the mother of heavenly Jesus thus Mary exist before Christ16. Immersion of infant for baptism17. Holy water18. Celibacy of priests (no office of priests in NT anyway, only priesthood of all believers)19. Kissing of statues20. Changing of 10 commandments. COmmandment of graven image removed by Catholic CHurch in Catholic Catechism. Splitting of another commandment into 2 commandments. 21. Catholic church changed Bible verse Gen 3:15 (And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel."). 'He' and 'His' referring to Christ.
Catholics changed it to (Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; She shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise Her heel.") 'She' and 'Her' refers to Mary. 22. Catholic Church use Rev 12 to refer to Mary as 'queen of heaven', when Rev 12:6 clearly refers to Israel escaping the Great Tribulation. Mary cannot be alive to escape the Great Tribulation. 23. Catholic Church refers to Mary as 'Queen of heaven', but 'Queen of Mary' in the Bible is a demonic entity Astoreth or Ishtar, the female deity partner of Baal. 5 verses in Jeremiah as proof.24. Catholic church refers to Mary as the Mediatress, Co redemptress, helper of Christ, firstborn of all creation ..
Mary cannot be the mediatress. Jesus is the one and only Mediator between God and man. Only Jesus redeems. Only the Holy Spirit is the Helper sent by Jesus. Only Jesus is the firstborn of all creation. 25. Roman Catholicism has “saints” one can pray to in order to gain a particular blessing. For example, Saint Gianna Beretta Molla is the patron saint of fertility. Francis of Assisi is the patron saint of animals. There are multiple patron saints of healing and comfort.
Nowhere is even a hint of this taught in Scripture. Just as the Roman pantheon of gods had a god of love, a god of peace, a god of war, a god of strength, a god of wisdom, etc., so the Catholic Church has a saint who is “in charge” over each of these and many other categories. Many Roman cities had a god specific to the city, and the Catholic Church provided “patron saints” for cities as well.26. Mary is called the gate of heaven? Mary has keys to paradise?
Here are roman pagan teachers saying their man made goddess is their savior. None of these quotes have been denounced, on the contrary they are cited.
"Open to us, O Mary, the gate of Paradise, since you have its keys! " St. Ambrose
"God has entrusted the keys and treasures of Heaven to Mary." St. Thomas Aquinas
"No one can enter into Heaven except through Mary, as entering through a gate. " St. Bonaventure
"Mary is called "The Gate of Heaven" because no one can enter Heaven but through her means." St. Alphonsus Maria Liguori

*Timeline of Roman Church*
1. AD33 JESUS founded HIS CHURCH on HIMSELF the ROCK. Mat 16:18.
2. CHURCH does not refer to any physical local churches but a general term for the Body of Christ connecting all churches and believers spiritually. Col 1:18.
3. AD33 First physical CHurch was Jerusalem Church. Acts 2. It was a Jewish Christian Church. Acts 11:26. Not roman. Not catholic.
4. AD 33-300s All local churches were Christian. Acts 11:26. None catholic. Early writings refers to the Christian Church as universal/catholic since they spread throughout the world.
5. AD 300s Founding of Roman Church. A local church under Roman Empire - called the Western church - this local church later called itself the Catholic Church in AD1054.
6. AD 300-1054 Roman Church was just one of many local churches. Not the Catholic Church. It was just part of the Catholic Church. Roman Church - a local church seek dominance over all other churches through false documents and forgeries.
7. AD1054 Roman Church was excommunicated by all churches. Roman Church finally took the opportunity to declare itself as the Catholic Church - Roman Catholic Church.

It's easy to see that Jesus started his church in the year 33 at Pentecost. He gave authority to his apostles to teach and said the gates of hell will not prevail against his church, low and behold the Orthodox Church started at that moment and has remained unchanged even to today. We were instructed to follow the teachings of the Church by writing AND tradition. We held the Ecumenical councils, deciding the true teaching of Christ through the ages through God's divine revelation. Also thanks to the "Canon of Scripture" the Orthodox Church assembled the bible we know today. 2000 years in 2033! No other "SECT" of "Christianity" can claim these undeniable facts.
