I Totally agree with what you said in this video. As a powerlifter and a coach of powerlifters, I've seen all kinds of body types. I had two guys at my gym, both were 6'1" tall. One weighed 90kg and the other weighed 80kg. The 80kg guy was a lot stronger than the 90kg guy. His short muscle bellies and long tendons gave him incredible leverage, especially in the squat! Both of them got bigger and stronger under my training and supervision. The 80kg guy got to weigh 93kg and the 90kg guy grew to 105kg. But the smaller man still out-lifted the bigger man. Leverage doesn't change no matter how big you get. You can change the width, or girth of a muscle but you can't change its length.

Also height, a 6 foot 3" dude is gonna have way longer arms then a 5 foot 7" dude, so the tall guy will look skinner because his muscles have to stretch further that the shorter guys.

For someone who knows physiology, you completely overlook conditioning the neuromuscular junction as the primary result of high-intensity/low-rep training.

Wow people still not getting this. I may be stronger than someone with bigger muscles but if my muscles get bigger I get stronger. My muscles might still be much smaller than the other guys but because they got bigger for me I am stronger than I used to be. It’s not comparing you to others it’s comparing you to your smaller muscled self. Many smaller people will be able to out-lift bigger guys but if the smaller guy gets bigger muscles he will be able to lift more than he previously could. If the big guy gets bigger he can lift more than he could previously. It’s not a comparison of one guy over another but of yourself.

Come on people… 🤦🏻‍♂️

Funny thing is frame structure for bodybuilding is perfect when it's almost the exact opposite as for when it's perfect for powerlifting.

This is not entirely true. Yes generally speaking if you have bigger muscles you are stronger because you have more potential energy that can generate more force. However having muscle that can contract faster and/or has a stronger electric signal will also produce more force, hence will allow you to be able to lift heavier max lifts. Another person, their big muscles may not have explosive potential or a trained nervous system that can recruit all the muscle fibers to contract simultaneously to generate more force.



So it is possible for a skinny guy can be stronger than a bigger guy.


There is a way to train for this. Train explosively at light weights and one rep max training. This teaches to body to be able to recruit more muscle fibers at once and increase muscle contraction speed (converting to more type II fibres) therefore allowing greater force production. But note: The results of this is on an individual basis, and your results will depend on how much adaptations your body has already made in these areas. e.g. An untrained athlete can have massive gains in these areas, but someone who already trains explosively and for strength will have a very hard time producing more adaptations in these areas, however they will likely already have impressive strength feats.

At the old gym I was at there was a lil man from India that had not missed a day at the gym for 20 years. He was 5'5" 145lbs and could shoulderpress 90lbs dumbbells and flat bench 120lbs dumbbells.. the thing with him is that looked like he had never worked out a day in his life but was pretty damn strong for his size and build.. maybe cuz he was a vegetarian and didn't take any supplements he didn't put on any muscle but over time he said his strength steadily increased.. I think with proper diet/ protein and carb intake he probably would have been much bigger and stronger..

I must say that was pretty informative. That's why lifters can't compare themselves with other lifters & athletes, because we're all built differently. Getting stronger at the basic compounds is all you can really do to consistently gain size.

This makes alot of since, I have long arms and lifted for a year, my strength was incredible, but my actual muscle definition is hard as hell to build.
