Did you know your multimeter could do this?

In this short i'll show you how to use a multimeter to check voltage on a 12v battery. I'm using a Klein Tools multi-meter, but any meter should have a voltage testing function for you to use.

My electrical instructors said 8v on a 9v is discharged.

The correct way to check batteries with a DMM is to put it on the setting that will give you mA.
This puts a load on the battery to properly test the juice it in.
1.5 V ( AA, AAA & C) will read 4.0 mA,
9 v will read 25 mA
& the small round flat batteries will read a little over 8.0 mA.

Very insulting. Also 8 volts on a 9 volt battery is not good to go.

So odd question. If you only need 14 volts to turn over an engine could you possibly use two of these is succession and jump a car?
