What's the difference between Non-binary and Gender Non-conforming? They seem to be used interchangeably, but one requires the use of preferred pronouns..

I was asked last week if I "identified" as a woman. I am a femme leaning lesbian female. I replied, "no I do not "identify" as a woman, I actually am a woman". They were puzzled by my reply, which I found so odd of them to be. It seemed to take them aback and I think that is a good thing. Thanks for another great conversation, critical analysis of transgender/non-binary ideology is crucial.

I do think there are more than 2 "genders" but that is very cultural and it feels like it got hijacked by people certain people to use it as a political statement. And the thing with pronouns is very "westernized", in some language what you call each gender is the same word.
Sometimes, I would answer the pronouns thing with "it". I hope I'm making sense, but I do agree with what was said. Just want a discussion on the topic 😅

In your case I would say: "That's a bit rude to ask. Obviously I am a woman, so I shouldn't have to explain to you that my pronouns are she/her".

The views in this video are so narrow. Just because nonbinary people exist, doesn’t mean they are saying that people of either/ any gender can’t be nonconforming. Plenty of women identify as masculine women. And refusing to give your pronouns saying “I don’t do pronouns” is rediculous. You just used a pronoun in that response. It does not affect you at all how someone else identifies. Tons of cultures throughout history have recognized that there are more than two genders, it not something new. To assume everyone else’s experience is the same as your own is extremely narrow minded and self-centered.

I've been thinking about this argument for a few years now since I came out as "non-binary." But as time went on I became uncomfortable with the fact that I had to change people's language just because of how I identified (the they/them thing)

Then recently I learned that my gender dysphoria came from the fact that I have autism. Autistic people have a very high rate of having gender identity problems because gender is extremely cultural and social.
After learning that, I just say I'm a gender non conforming biological female, but I don't do the pronouns thing.

I just wonder, how many people say they're nonbinary just because it's trendy, while others actually cannot grasp the social concept of "gender" like I can't because of brain chemical issues.

I actually didn't know what GNC meant until recently. I always thought it was an umbrella term that encompassed non-binary, gender-fluid, gender-queer etc. (All the confused nonsense as I would put it.) But when I found out it just means a cis person not adhering to gendered stereotypes, I realized I'm all for that! That means cis & trans cover everything as far as I'm concerned.

Transgenderism remains a wholly incoherent worldview. Confusing gender itself with the inclination to adhere to gender roles and norms (or appealing to circular reasoning as per self-identification) is only one of the reasons why.

The whole point of asking pronouns is not to assume based on what stereotype someone looks like to you. How offensive to not assume.

I sometimes feel like we’ve forgotten that the majority of the world feels perfectly comfortable with the sex they were born as. So going around asking everyone about their pronouns and making it a standard just feels very unnecessary to me. If someone needs to be accommodated in some way that’s out of the ordinary (such as different pronouns), they should take the initiative to state it themselves. The other party should then be able to accept or decline that request without some horrible consequences. We all have certain perception of ourselves but that never means that we are entitled to be forcing everyone around to see us the same way. Those who get to control language also get to control thoughts and ideas. And that is not a definition of free speech or democracy.

Fighting the stereotype binary, by creating another stereotype. Leftwinged, dyed hair, mismatch of clothes and pronoun pins.
