Babies benefit GREATLY from the use of 'baby talk' around them. It is absolutely a part of their environment that contributes positively to their language skills and learning. This is only one study but there are many, and every introductory or child development-related college linguistics textbook will tell you this. Otherwise great video and thank you for contributing this information!

Edit: I now see why people keep saying don't use baby talk with your baby. Maria Montessori's book was published in 1912 - long before the study of linguistics as it relates to child development. There are some things in her book which must be taken with a grain of salt. Modern science has surpassed her knowledge linguistically, though most of the rest of her book is still relevant in a tried-and-true way. It is only her knowledge of child development in a linguistic context that is lacking.

Final edit: I want to be clear when I say that Science Daily article is not my background; I have been studying linguistics for over 12 years from Boston University to UNM.
