I used to work at Express Oil in Gardendale and it wasn’t uncommon to see chevy and ford trucks pushing 300k-500k and some anomalies going on original engine 600k-800k. The highest I ever seen was a 1995 Nissan pickup truck that had just pulled in on a million miles and it look like it had been too. It was a little old Hispanic man that had been commuting back and forth from working in the states and going back home in Mexico.

Seeing how much miles Larry has, it really helps calm me down knowing my 2002 tundra has about 206, 000 miles and I’m doing a lot of stuff to her

My 10th gen 5.4 has a little over 216k. Nothing wrong mechanically, though I did have to change the ignition coils when I first bought it. If you maintain your vehicle well, it will last a very long time.

The 4.7 and 5.7 Tundra just getting broke in at 200k. Reliable to reach a million miles. The 350 engine in Chevy is reliable too.

That c1500’s body styling has aged so much better than a ford from the same era

I have a 99 suburban with 323k miles on it with the 5.7. My grandparents bought it brand new and just gave it to me about a year ago. Same drive train, no rust, decent body, just an all around amazing car.

I used to think that something with almost 200 thousand miles was way too much, until I met the honorable Toyota Sequoia. I sold my terribly unreliable 2013 Volkswagen CC I bought back on 2018 with 16k on the clock. Beautiful powerful lil car. At 27k the glass in the driver side review mirror just fell off randomly, first sign of trouble even though very minor. At 50k AC compressors breaks a couple of days of the AC breaking every warning light on the dash illuminates. Turns out bad speed sensors can cause all those lights to come on. For those issues the bill came out to just around 3 grand. At 64k all lights came on again the front speed sensors went offline as well. I wasn’t too pressed about taking it to get it fixed that soon until shortly after that I kept smelling coolant. The coolant light came on eventually so I added coolant topped it off two weeks later coolant light came on again! That’s when I said nope to Volkswagen you go something is wrong. They tell me yes the front speed sensors are bad and the water-pump is also leaking. I said to my service advisor this is just too much happening on a vehicle with low mileage and never been in a wreck. I told him after I get this fixed I’m selling it. He chirped yes I think it’s time for it to go I’ve seen you in my shop way too many times these past several months. I will never buy another Volkswagen product as long as I live. I sold it to Vroom for almost 12k. Decided to buy a cheap used car cash until the market stabilizes because the prices of new and used cars are effing ridiculous! I wanted a large and in charge and reliable. So I did my research on three full size SUV’s target years are 03-06 Chevy Tahoe, ToyotaSequoia and Nissan Armada. First pick was for Tahoe they say they last for a very long time. But the first one I went to see had 238k miles on it. Fired it up and every warning light on the dash was lit. The seller promised me before coming it had AC and it was as hot as pot roast! Transmission kicked like a horse out of second gear and the brakes had too much travel. Immediately returned to the shop and handed him the keys and walked out. That experience messed it up for all the Tahoe’s after that. Next up was the Sequoia. Had even more miles then the Tahoe at 274k. Inside was a lil worn. I almost walked away but something told to me at least start it up. So I asked for the keys. Upon starting it I was shocked to see no warning lights only but one TPM was illuminated. No worries I’m aware of the nuisance light from researching it. Engine was so quite with not one shake in it. Test drove it and the surprises just kept coming. Ain’t no way a machine with these many miles ran as smooth as butter just couldn’t believe it! I took it to a mechanic to get it looked at they checked everything. Had minor lil things here and there which was to be expected. He asked me how much are they selling it for? I told him $4500 He said go back and buy this truck it’s a great deal! And you have the legendary 4.7 Iforce million mile engine in there. That’s all I needed to hear. I’ve been in love ever since. Planning to continue buying Sequoias or tundras from this point moving forward. Although I don’t think I’ll go past 2021 because all I’ve been seeing is disasters of the 2022 Tundra’s from Wastegate to other menacing issues. I’ll pass on that until they can make updates on it. Toyota needs to hurry and make this right or forfeit their reputation of reliability.

I have an 08’ Silverado with the AFM with 2068xx miles in it and I haven’t touch the motor nor transmission. Regular maintenance with rear main seal, cv axel seals replaced 🤷🏽‍♂️ still driving and pulling like a champ. Drove from Alabama to California with no issues at all 😎 great buy on my side.

I got my 1990 k1500 new…. Daily driver.. it has over 500, 000 miles.. original engine/trans. Compression still good.. those years where low horsepower/torque for 350 5.7 size. But it’s why they run well decade after decade.

Living in a large state, like Texas, a 10yr old vehicle, or older, is guaranteed to have 200k+. Rust free, and mostly highway miles though. My 05 escalade 6.0 had 257k when I sold it this May, zero issues. My 05 tahoe 5.3 had 277k when I sold it in July, and only codes it had, were for knock sensors, and abs module. Ran and drove fine. My 08 escalade was bought with 212k a couple months ago, zero issues.

90's-early 2000s trucks with 170-200k usually seem to have been owned by "grandpas", and you can tell by how clean and stock it usually is.

Wouldn't buy a vehicle from a high schooler. Guaranteed to be ragged out regardless of miles 😂

Can't remember where I heard it, but the phrase, "Used and abused, but well maintained" comes to mind when deciding if you should buy a higher mileage truck or not
