3 equalizers (MXR, Joyo, Boss) - noise comparison

Показать описание
This is a noise comparison of 3 equalizer pedal effects (MXR M109S, Joyo JF-11, Boss GE-7), made by moving their sliders from position 0 to the maximum position upwards and back to position 0 again:
MXR - 00:15
Joyo - 00:33
Boss - 00:50
For this recording I used Pignose 7-100 solid state amplifier with Boss PSA-230ES isolated power supply. All pedal effects were powered by 9V battery. Everything was recorded on Zoom H1 digital recorder.
Conditions of these 3 recordings were made in different period of time and may differ slightly from each other (probably slightly diffrent recorder position and gain).

I have the Joyo one with the backwards "N" on "IN"
For us$30 it works for me.

My Caline 10 - band EQ pedal was horribly noisy until I tried another power supply and now it's perfectly silent. Most of the time it's the power supply, so try different ones. I personally use either D'Addario or Boss. Also check how much current (in miliamperes or mA) the power supply puts out. Always go above requirement of the pedal. Say the pedal's requirement is 150mA; always go above that and never below while maintaining the same voltage requirement which is usually 9v. Always check the manufacturer for the specific requirements of a particular pedal. It may be the required voltage is not 9v but 9.6v and that could make a difference.

In the effects loop....the noise gate must be after or before the equalizer please?

Would be also good to compare not only noise but how they differently affect the sound. Some really changing your sound and suck your ton

So wouldnt it be right to say that Joyo is NOT really bad in terms of "noise&hiss"🧐? (asking cos aiming for it😊)

MXR seems noisier than BOSS, is it a modern version of the GE-7?

I really disliked my mxr eq pedal, it had that crackling static noise from the LEDs. There was a problem with them . Also, I had a MXR noise gate. The bulb went in the trigger part of it. And the high low setting stopped working. No, don’t like MXR stuff.
