I like the Joyo more to be honest. While the Dream '65 sounds more modern and has a wider feature set I think the American sound has a more vintage and lofi feel that is a lot more musical

It's hard for me to justify the price but I do much prefer the Dream '65

Joyo truly sounds great already, but pair it with an EQ pedal and give it a tiny mid bump and a hair of treb and I think the Joyo would sparkle just the same!

The Joyo American Sound is a Gem...no other pedal of these kind can be as good for only $16 used. It should be in the pedalboard (or home) of any guitarist out there. Best cheap guitar pedal ever made...

The better you can play, the less difference it'll make. The joyo has long been known for having insane value, and realistically, the difference is something only other musicians or players would notice. I don't think club/pub goers would care which you use.

Seriously, leave this on repeat, leave the room, do something, come back, and don't look at which one is which, don't even directly/intently listen at first.

I realized that is a better way to defeat internal unintentional bias.

If you have the money yes. It's warmer, and the low end came through way better. The Joyo sounds pretty thin in comparison.

The Dream seems to have some different harmonics and sustain going on that I find more pleasing and enveloping to my ears; like an auditory hug.
But I suspect that may have more to do with differences in circuit design and/or higher quality components (caps, resistors, etc) being used in the Dream.

That being said, the Joyo sounds plenty fine, and if I was listening to either just on their own or in a mix, and not in a head to head comparison, I would like them both.

If I had the Joyo, I would be opening it up on day 1 to see what components could be upgraded or swapped out for a different sonic signature just for the fun of it. Though it doesn't _need_ that, it's just something I like to do. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Good demonstration of them, by the way. 🎸🤙🏽

Dude, both sounds fine to me!
I don't care how much each of 'em costs, sound is all that matters to me.

I like the Dream but not 10x more than the Joyo. That said, I own the UAFX Ruby and I think it's worth every penny.

the voice and drive on the joyo lives at 10 for me, volume at 2 O'clock, and run through a celestion 4x12 V30 IR

Truly anyone going for amp sims that cost $400 or more should just save up for a quad cortex or axe fx. Even if you still run a traditional pedal board and just use it for a few pedals you will get $2, 000 worth of pedal effects out of it with Minimal use

The thing is, the dream sounds better, Solo. But if you record a track with drum and bass. You’re probably going to EQ out. Most of the frequency differences that you hear in the Joyo anyway 🤷🏽‍♂️

I use the American Sound myself. It maybe cheap, but some of the more expensive brands do the same thing for 4x the price. I also use the Actone and the Vintage Overdrive from JOYO. Im amazed at the clarity of sound.

Srick a bit of reverb and delay on American sound and it would be the same

When i first bought strymon timeline, had much problem using it because it is not user friendly, after jamming it a few times with friends, i felt that friend's tc electronics seems to sounds better in the jam, and easier to dial in.
I just can't understand, but after tweaking it a few more times. Boom, magical!!! The delay iz unbeatable. Lesson learned, you can't sit right in front of the amp to set your tone, it's way too much but the reality, it is not in a bigger environment. The regret is totally gone.
If you are a tone sensitive and a tone chaser, yes, that price differences might well worth it. 1st the quality of the make and 2nd, you enjoy it every day, you can get frustrated with your playing, but certainly not the tone or the pedal.

On top of tone, the feels make a big difference between pedals, some are sensitive to touch some

The Dream sounds brighter while the joyo sounds a bit more subdued but tighter. But i'm surprised how similar they still sound!

The box wine aunts, cat ladies, and Karens from HR who would actually listen to this, could not tell the difference.

Altho the sound difference is not $360 different, I am usually willing to pay extra for reliability and consistency.

The main issue with most of these music instruments and accessories is that you end up paying 10x more for 2-3x the sound.
