As a thrash metal the best thing to do with the GE-7 is scooping them mids to get a typical Metallica like thrash metal tone it sounds badass and heavy

back in the pre-digital days that thing was truly magical

Every guitar player should own a EQ pedal. Ive watched a ton of friends complain about their guitar, pickups and amp- but when I bring over an EQ pedal and adjust frequencies to tighten bass, boost mids or cut treble they are immediately interested in the pedal. EQ is easily the most overlooked pedal that is useful for literally any very guitar rig and genre.

EQ can also help enhance tone during live performance by “assigning” each instrument a different frequency so the mix sounds great live. This works best for bands that don’t have a huge variety of guitar tones like jumping from heavy distortion to cleaner tones. Go buy an EQ, if it’s not a permanent fixture on your pedal board it might end up being your preamp during recording sessions.

I have used it live for years as a lead boost . Works great .

Discovered the greatness of the GE 7 in 1983 and I haven't stopped using one ever since.

One of the best pedals, my favorite thing is lowering the bass a little bit and increasing the mid-highs and the high eq a little bit to get a more punchy tone

I like the Gretsch and fixed Wah settings.
I bought mine with 4 other pedals with pedal board back in 1991 in NYC Broadway and canal St flea market for $125. A guy several feet away had a boss pedal board with 5 or 6 pedals and TU tuner and sold his for the same price to a guy. I still have them minus the board in 2024.

Billy Gibbons leaves them all in the middle EXCEPT the 400 he boosts all the way up, to boost the low-mids, that's his one pedal used one way!

I started playing pro at 17, and when my guitar store “consultant” recommended exactly the same pedal it upped my sound to another level! I also soon added the same Phase 90 and compression pedal that Ed Van Halen was using. And I left the compressor on all the time with only slight gain and then kick in either a distortion or a fuzz. (Gotta be careful on squealing). Now I realize I should have used TWO EQ pedals, maybe a second at the amp, or maybe even between the amp and the cab, like someone else on YouTube said? Anyway, definitely get an Eq. It’s absolutely a necessary investment that pays off immediately. Play on bro!

I used that exact one. I'm a lead guitarist and used it for a variety of things but mostly to increase the volume of my solos. It would give me that little boost over top the rest of the guys playing in a live setting. It's a great tool.

It's fantastic between a CD player and P.A. Totally makes music sparkle.🤠 The bass version is just as good.

love the GE-7 I use it on my fretless jazz bass sometimes to get just the right touch to the tone that the song calls for

Pro Tip #1: Remember to include the bypass sound in your demos.

I used one of these for years and went over to the MXR 10 band EQ. Same concept, just a little more tweakablity. It's also the Kerry King version. It's also 18v instead of the standard 9v pedal. The gain boost is insane as well as the cuts. Also experiment by placing in the effects loop. It changes everything and shapes the tone is many odd ways
