I'm just wondering about restoring the file permissions given the fact that only folders and packages were copied. Is this possible? I unfortunately can't do full system backup because I have two NAS each with an own shared folder. So, I backup the files of NAS 1 into NAS 2 and vice versa: the files of NAS 2 into NAS 1. If I do a full backup then the backups will be also copied again, which will increase the data size.

I wish you could exclude folders in the full system backup, but this isn't possible at the moment.

if my synology is completely wiped out but I have a hyperbackup full backup and I put in new disks, reinstall the Synology OS from scratch, install Hyperbackup package and begin RESTORE process. My question is Do I need to manually recreate all SHARED folders and access ? Or does the config restore also create the SHARED FOLDERS necessary for the restore ?

This is probably one of the most useless backup tools I've seen. Let's pretend that you've backed up a volume to an external drive. You did this because you're converting from, say, EXT4 to BTRFS. Using Synology's guide on this, you backed up the data, removed the EXT4 volume and re-added it as a BTRFS volume. When it was time to restore data, you noticed that it didn't give you the option of what volume to restore to. Hmmm, weird. Instead of restoring to the "new" volume you just created, it restores to volume one. Stupid. What a moronic design.
