the descriptions of texture "like mayo, sour cream" definitely helps.

One of the best instructional videos on YouTube! Loved it: straight to the point (no history of every type of ceiling crack from Adam and Eve), simple language (mayo consistency, not viscosity of 20, 000 cP), nice video angles - kudos to the author!

Thank you for this. I tried to follow this step by step to repair some pretty deep cracks in my ceiling. I would like to add that you can really mess this up if you make some mistakes like I did. I put the joint compound on too thick, trying to sand off your ceiling is as bad and it sounds, really dusty and difficult. It now looks quite a bit worse than before and that was pretty bad. So if you try this be sure to do a very thin coat of the compound because it will be very difficult to remove and you will be sorry. Anyway, Thank you for tryin to help us.

I will be taping and mudding a ceiling tomorrow and this is super helpful. I read some comments people said about screws and nailing it to reinforce it etc, and your response and I like how you’re chill and positive. You handle the constructive criticism well lol. obviously you did it right or it wouldn’t have come out like you said it did 👌🏻

So much negativity from angry elitist "handymen" and "contractors" who just hate on these pages because it teaches people how to do something themselves as opposed to paying said "handymen" or "contractors" some bloated hourly rate to do the same job. You all know it's true. You're just mad because every person that watches this is one more person that you won't be able to price gouge. Even if he had done this with screws, or plaster or primer or whatever "professional" method you use, you'd still be on here criticizing something.

I love videos like this. Good, informative and to the point. Anytime something gets people to roll up their sleeves and put some sweat equity back into their homes I'm in support of it.

Thank you sooo much for this very informative “How To”. I have ceiling cracks that I want to repair myself and now I know I can do it with ease. Many of the other sites i looked at really made a big production out of it and I felt overwhelmed. This girls got this!

To avoid that seam from coming back, pop some drywall screws on either side of joint before mudding if at joist

Oh my God dude you are seriously my HERO!!!! my landlords are extremely cheap and don't like to repair anything so I do all the work my self though they increase my rent every year, my kitchen has that issue. Thanks to you I think I can handle this repair my self since I'm going to repaint the kitchen anyways. Been living here in this house for 8 years and the only things the landlords have done was replacing my water heater twice after having no hot water for 5 days. Each time. Thats how long they took to consider replacing the water heater and my landlords are a Lutheran Church lol!

You made that look so easy. I have to tackle this at my parent's home. I will be remembering "mayo 1st....sour cream 2nd". I hate drywall with a passion, as I somewhat suck at it.

Hey Man, thanks for the video. Don't listen to all these wannabe professionals who search how to do this repair that they apparently are seasoned experts at. You're video helped this guy with a simple repair needed after a storm of wind driven rain.

Be sure to prime the raw plaster before you paint.
Colour match will soak into plaster leaving a visible texture difference.
