In today's video on Paul Peck Drywall TV, I'm going to show you an amazing trick to match knockdown texture on a ceiling repair with the knockdown texture sponge. After I repaired the failing tape joint at the giant vaulted ceiling drywall seam, I was ready to apply an all purpose joint compound to match the knockdown texture on this drywall tape repair using the knockdown texture sponge by the Texture Master, a 6" drywall taping knife, 14" mud pan and a 24" acrylic knockdown paddle. I was able to pretty much perfectly match the knockdown texture without have to use a hopper or specialty texture rig. Watch the whole video for yourself and see the amazing results. This diy knockdown texture repair tool is perfect for matching a wall or ceiling repair for a do it yourselfer.

My children thank you for your channel. They have been patching holes from skateboarding in the house. Mom is happy with THEIR work.

As a former general contractor who always subbed drywall I get how good this guy is and how hard it is to even get close to original

I used this technique on my Laundry Room ceiling. After painting you had to know it was there in order to spot the patch. Worked well and looked great.

Thank you Paul. I watched your video and followed as best I could on a budget and with a partially bum right arm. I did my first ever knockdown texture today and it doesn't look too bad. I appreciate you explaining clearly even to my level of knowledge in joint compound and texture.

I did the whole back room of my house using this technique. I thought I was being really crafty. It's nice knowing that it's kind of the industry-standard. It looks great.

I'm more of a jack of all trades kinda guy & lately I've been trying a style like this to fix the bad habit I have of rushing the job . Knocking texture down too soon ending up with smooth areas, creating more work in the long run . Glad I came across your channel, reinforces my confidence in being able to fix my screw-ups . I've always thought that what makes a good craftsman is somebody that can fix his own mistakes .thank you. I love learning other trades, being a floor installer for over 50 years .retirement is fun when keep working at things that you Don't have to do !

I'm a professional painter. I just moved to Oregon from Chicago. I grew up in Chicago and nobody uses texture over there at all, so I had to learn how to texture and vidios like this one helped me a lot.

Omg!
All I could say is you rule!
This is by far the easiest and most inexpensive way to repair a knockdown ceiling you just saved me so much money I was getting ready to go out and buy a hopper gone that would be such a waste of money because I’ll never use it after this repair is done you’re the best!!!!

Thank you for the recommendation on the sponge and the great tutorial! I successfully followed your lead on a fairly large spot on my ceiling. I did not have a large knife like yours but I was able to use a similar sized scrap of plexiglass with a straight edge. Thanks again!

Hi, great video! I really appreciate you showing how to do a repair like this. I have a ceiling with a similar problem. Just moved to Florida, the whole house is a knockdown finish. I have no problem doing regular drywall repair and finishing. But I am unfamiliar with the knockdown finish process. After watching your excellent video, I feel like I can give it a shot. Thanks

You make it look easy. But...there is an art. Thanks for sharing.

This is a good informative video! If you don't want to go thru thinning down regular joint compound, there are premixed texture compounds available or dry powders to mix. You may consider using texture compound as the knock-down finish will match the existing texture better.

Hey Paul, nice job on blending the new texture into the old. I'm going to be texturing the ceiling in my living room after removing the popcorn ceiling, thanks for the tips on how it's done.!

I’ll be doing this to blend a section that I cut out of my wall to run a gas line. Your video is very helpful.

I’m glad your making an effort to match the texture of the ceiling. I have wood chip wallpaper and a line of uneven filler across the ceiling. I’m sure even your talents couldn’t match that.

Excellent work. Thank you. It would be nice to see the completed job after it was painted.
