Definitely an introvert’s paradise which is why I always try to return every year

Living in a village near 津山 in Okayama prefecture: The kids walking home from school will greet in the street. Old folks like to talk, especially if you meet them on a stroll around the forest. It’s nicer down south 😁

If you’re an extrovert, go to Osaka. Love that city. People are very social there.

Introvert's paradise, huh? As an introvert living in america, that sounds very appealing.

I’ve been to Tokyo twice and I agree, it’s nice to be anonymous. However the sensory overload thing was very true. I often had to wear my noise cancelling headphones just to dampen the noise a little. Hakata was my favourite place I visited as it combined city living with a calmer more manage pace. Highly recommend!

Sounds perfect for me! I enjoy traveling and eating alone and I'm awkward at conversations, especially with strangers

Thank you for the last part, I tend to overwhelm so that's really useful. Thank you ❤

I'm the most introverted introvert to ever introvert, even if I grew up in Okinawa, and people are more friendly there than 'self-kept' as well, so I'd say if you dislike friendly chat, stay in the city! Just about everything you said was spot on, heh. hope I make sense ☺️💗

Was in Japan a few weeks ago. Way too crowded for me, but I liked how friendly people were and how I was mostly ignored. ❤

I’m introverted, and a sensory seeking autistic so Japan is always a staple trip of the year. Plus I get to go with my mom and meet relatives so that’s a huge bonus.

I feel like the city is a perfect balance for me. I'm an introvert, but I also want to be a little surrounded by people, noise, and happenings. :)

That sensory overload is so real. I had a hard time in Tokyo for that reason, but I hope I can get past it and feel differently next time. It kind of hurt, unfortunately.

Tokyo sounds like what I heard about
Scandinavian countries.

I'm an introverted and still sounds depressing, I like my loneliness but I have to be able to connect when needed u know? South sounds better, but who knows lol

We know they won't say anything to you but it's obvious they do care because that's why so few people in Japan step out of line. The society quietly demands that you stay in your lane, whatever that may be. I love that place but it doesn't promote going your own way or standing out from the crowd.
