Even though the government decides to increase the entire salary of every person, they also change the taxes more than that so finally our take-home pay is actually minus than before wtf

For context, I was working as an English teacher in Japan in 1996 and earned 300, 000 per month. That was quite good back then. Salaries have stayed the same for a long time in Japan.

For advice those who go to Japan for holiday, take your passport with you when you go shopping because you wont have to pay sales tax as a tourist. I had to pay it once becuase I didnt know this.

I remember got an offer from a CA Japanese talent agency and Amazon at the same time for an software engineer job, one require me to relocate to Tokyo, even tho being a weebi all my life, I made the right decision by join Amazon cause I knew those japanese salary can't sustain my lifestyle whatsoever. 😅 software engineer at $1200/month jesus~
