Sulforaphane supplements vs. broccoli sprouting | Rhonda Patrick

Sulforaphane, an isothiocyanate compound, is the most potent naturally-occurring inducer of the body's key detoxification enzymes. While sulforaphane is available in supplement form, it is derived naturally from a variety of cruciferous vegetables such as Brussels sprouts, kale, and mustard greens, with the highest quantities available from broccoli sprouts. Sprouting is labor-intensive, however, and prone to contamination, while purchasing supplements can be costly. In this clip, Dr. Rhonda Patrick describes the advantages and disadvantages of the various dietary and supplemental sources of sulforaphane.

I wouldn't say that sulfuraphan is the most potent inducer of the body's detoxification enzymes, but it is the best analysed by science.
There are dozens of other glucosinolates we know very little about, except that they seem to have a beneficial effect on our health.

Add some apple cider vinegar to the last soak of your sprouts to cleanse and disinfect them of any growths. Drain well without re-rinsing. They will last longer and stay fresher.

Prostaphane 'Mothers little Helper'? How about Moringa powder as an alternative source of sulforaphane to broccoli sprouts is it viable or is dried moringa powder just compost?

Thank you Dr Rhonda for bringing our attention to the benefits of sulphurophane.

I chew a teaspoon of the seeds every day. Can’t be bothered sprouting the seeds any more.

Can you please let us know of the bioavailability of blending or chewing the straight seeds?

I have started the supplement now and take 1 tablet daily equaling 10 grams of sprouts 🌱
Further I take two dinners a week with cruciferous vegetables 🥦 broccoli/cauliflower/brussel sprouts
Twice a week I eat a vegetable soup added broccoli
And love bread 🥖 with cheese, sprouts and mustard
That should be sufficient I think 🤔

I retyped my question here because I was concerned about sulforaphane and thyroid ie not gall bladder (my mistake). @FoundMyFitness Dear Dr. Partrick, I have a very important question to ask about sulforaphane. Is it ok for me to take a sulforaphane supplement if I have a hypothyroid? I have read that cruciferous vegetables should be avoided with those who have hypothyroid Thank you very much for any reply you may have. Kind regards, from Australia

I keep throwing my sprouts away because they look suspicious! I can't have that contamination again 😔 Someone please do a study on taking a small amount of ground up seeds

I’ve stopped eating all animal foods and highly processed foods for five years. Eating sprouts is easy, taste is no issue. Broccoli sprouts can be difficult in hot weather.

But you can simply chew the broccoli seeds instead of a supplement? That's supposed to give you the highest concentration of sulforaphane?
