Kindles have been officially sold and shipped locally in Brazil since 2012. In fact, Amazon is the only company that sells e-readers in the country.

Amazon has officially cancelled the Oasis unfortunately. They said so in an interview. Sucks because that was my favorite kindle

I just got mine too. The "metallic" coating in the back of the Signature edition makes the new Kindle even more slippery, its basically like smooth plastic or metal at this point and a world away from the old soft touch surface. Not a big deal when used in a case, but for those that like using a "naked" Kindle, this just keeps getting worse.

Since the size difference is a mere 5 mm, what most interests us is how the screen (contrast etc.) compares with that of the older Paperwhite.

Excellent video! I'm from Brazil and here we have already received the new Kindles. Colorsoft will arrive in Brazil next year. The only one we won't be getting is the Scribe.

Nice for you. I think it’s funny. You call out the power button on the bottom. I got into the Kindle world about two years ago with the most basic one. I love it when traveling super lightweight battery last forever. The power button on the bottom makes me insane. I have to go with a lock screen, just because it gets turned on so many times in my backpack or briefcase.Thinking of possibly upgrading with this new round of devices seems to be interesting. Thanks for the review.

In the full review, please compare it with the previous generation Paperwhite rather than the new Kindle Basic.

Also, do check if it still supports sideloading content from Calibre. Because Amazon keeps removing certain books from the Kindle Store and people will want to know if they can sideload those DRM-free books from other stores or Project Gutenberg, etc.

Thanks for the review! I'm deciding between this one and the Colorsoft. Do you think you could do a head-to-head comparison with the Kindle when it arrives? I'm curious whether the Colorsoft has slower refresh times or if they're about the same

I have a PW, which I love, but am puzzled about the button placement. Does anyone know why Amazon chose to place the button on the bottom rather than the top or side? I’ve unintentionally shut it off while reading on more than one occasion.

I wish it had even less of a bezel. I loved using my ipad mini as an ereader and wish something like it existed with an e-ink screen. I understand people wanting buttons while those ereaders exist nothing really exists for those of us that just want a bezel-less ereader.

My other pie-in-the-sky idea is I want a dual screen ereader so that I can open it like a book and fold it back like a normal book. Give the Kindle a Surface Duo treatment and I'd be forever grateful

Previous Kindle Paperwhites (specifically 2021) had a "rubberized-ish" back cover that eventually became quite sticky (material degradation I guess?). Do you think this will happen with this new version?

I just bought the previous Paperwhite Signature Edition on September 1st for the same price here in Brazil (well, I'm paing R$899 in 12x, and the new one is 899 in 1x ou 999 in 12x). Do you think I should have waited?

I recieved the new 12th Generation Paperwhite Signature Edition and compared it to the 11th Generation. The screen is very different. It has a warm yellowish cast to it and not that white look of the previous Kindle. It's definitely in the screen and not the lights because you can see in direct sunlight a yellowish tint to the screen that does not exist on my other kindles. I wish I could post a picture so people could see. The best comparison I can make is that the 11th Generation looks like reading text on a new newspaper and the 12th Generation looks like your reading and old newspaper that's been in a garage for years and yellowed. I sent it back by the way.
