Here is our first look at the all-new Kindle 2024 edition. This is considered their affordable entry-level e-reader and comes in two new body colours: black and Matcha Green. This is the 12th generation model and a 6-inch screen with 300 PPI and a front light that is 25% brighter at max setting—as colourful as Kindle Paperwhite. It has faster page turns and a higher contrast ratio.

I bought my kindle in 2011 and still use it almost everyday but I want to upgrade, because of battery life and I want to be able to read in the dark. I wanted to go with the Pocketbook Verse because it supports all file formats and I like the buttons, but now I'm torn. This does look nice. 😮

Cute little Kindle! My first Kindle was the 2nd Gen. I remember that corrugated box. It was so pretty and where you opened it it said, “Once upon a time….” It felt so special. I can see why they forego the bigger box today, but I miss that magical experience. Come to think of it, I miss my Gen 2. It had a toggle switch instead of a push button to fire up, and physical page buttons on each side of the device. Sure it was big and had to sport a physical keyboard, but it was the coolest thing I had ever had! Thanks for this unboxing! So fun!

Mine gets delivered today. I’ve had an oasis for 2 years and find it way too bulky. Green is my favourite colour so this felt meant to be for my upgrade

Is the back straight up plastic or is it soft touch? And last question, can the backlight be turned all the way off, or only super low like my current paperwhite? This is my favorite model, that sunken screen makes this the only existing Kindle that can be held with one hand and still turn the page (I just squish my thumb down).

Is the casing just plain plastic or some rubberized material? I read on reddit that the back of the casing becomes sticky over time but not sure if the casing material is the same in this new version.
