I have ADHD and virtually NEED to watch or listen to something whilst eating. If I don’t I will just eat and eat and eat. Watching something helps me keep a slower pace and in turn eat a healthy amount! xx

THIS! Being in ED recovery, I have to eat while reading/distracting myself, otherwise I would start overthinking and putting a lot of pressure on my meals (expecting them to be perfect and emotionally satisfying)

Watching something while I eat actually helps me pace myself. I'm so freaking timeblind but if I have a show on, the storyline pacing helps me to know how long it's been since I started eating so I can stop and check in with my body.

This is so, so helpful and validating. Thank you! As someone who’s recovering from an ED I’ve always found this element of intuitive eating to be rather stress and anxiety inducing. I’m sure there will come a point where I can adopt parts of distraction-feee eating, but in the mean time, thank you for this short! ❤

It’s also super helpful if you experience sensory sensitivity to eat while distracted. Due to health reasons, I can’t skip meals, but other reasons cause the feeling of any food to be nauseating. Eating distracted can make it easier to get it down

Thank you for addressing this! Our family loves to eat and chat over a movie or an episode of a show. It’s one of our favorite activities. My kids are older and we still do this together. It seemed “wrong” for so long. But I finally decided our family emotional connection was the most important factor not “right or wrong” extremes.

This channel have helped me so much open drying intuitive eating for a while now and I’ve never felt better going on diets always sucked for me. It made me feel weird but intuitive. Eating is so much better. Save a lot to go because my ice cream sometimes a little bit too much but seeing these videos help me a lot I am currently eating a fruit salad at three in the morning because I was hungry.

I’ve always felt that I eat best when I’m watching a food show, mainly cuz I like salivating over the food, but also cuz the food being cooked helps to whet my appetite at the same time

Im the focusing on food increases guilt person, eating while doing other things or hanging out with friends is a huge help

Changing what I watch helps a lot. I pick my most enjoyed shows to watch when I eat. It makes the meal feel more enjoyable and I've notices I have less wants for seconds after

Yes! Watching food related videos helps me eat. Which as someone who has struggled to listen to my body when it’s hungry is helpful

I have some ongoing GI issues and one of the first things ppl on the internet suggest to reduce bloating is to eat without distractions so you're more mindful of chewing and slowing down. While I agree that we'd all benefit from eating a bit slower, trying to eat while staring at nothing doesn't work for me - I find it makes me eat faster. Lol. Again everything has a balance!

I've had the exact oppisite problem. I've found that my entire life my mother has taken any of her children eating as a window to plan and talk about everything and anything. I recently told her that this results in me speed eating, not chewing well enough, and having a stomach ache after because I'm stressed during a parasympathetic activity. She understood and I have never felt such peace eating alone and at my own pace without distractions. I get both sides of this, though.

I honestly love to talk while eating. I normally wolf down through a meal, but when I’m with friends and I’m talking I actually get to slow down and enjoy my meal more 😂

THANK YOU! I always listen to videos while eating because if I get into a conversation I just cannot eat. I feel like my family kind of finds it weird sometimes? But I can’t help it I cannot handle complete silence (unless I’m trying to sleep) and anything that required input from me causes me to just… stop eating.
