In 2002, GTA Vice City released on the PlayStation 2, with an expansive sandbox and an infectious 80's theme. But in 2021 is GTA Vice City Still Great? (GTA Vice City Review)

Throughout this GTA Vice City Review I'll look at all parts of Vice City to see how they hold up today. I'll compare Vice City to old and new games and will compare it to the standards of 2021. In the end I'll answer the question: Is GTA Vice City Still Great?

If you enjoyed the review give me a like and a sub to let me know!

There were a lot of things I noticed during this Vice City review that had overlap with GTA 3; hidden packages, a lack of a waypoint system and endless mission variety. As I discussed this is detail during my GTA 3 review, I decided not to go over again here. But if you want to catch my review of GTA 3, check it out here, as well as my previous reviews:

As a kid, I didn't know who half of these actor were when i played this. So i have a reverse effect, when I see and hear Ray's voice, I think Tommy 😂

Vice City brought me to a magical game-world when I first played it three days after Christmas in late-December 2002 when I was 13 and in the 8th grade. My first and favorite GTA. The music, the lights, the glitz and glamor truly immersed you into the city. Yes, it’s still great; in fact, it’s fantastic!

In 2002 I was 24y already which means yi had already a strong nostalgic feel about my own childhood in the 80s with walkman and C64. It hit me so hard I loved every second of this game.

My first GTA game. I remember my older brother got this for the PS2 back in 2002. I was 8 years old and wasn't allowed to play it at the time, but I watched my brother play. A few years later, I got this and GTA San Andreas, and was put so many HOURS into both Vice City and San Andreas.

I love that you failed the stunt jump in the intro montage 😂 that really takes me back to my childhood. I think the vigilante missions are fine. You just have to steal a Vice Squad Cheetah and respray it when you're wanted. You get plenty of time. When the suspects drive in a straight line, you can park ahead of them and use the stub shotgun, it works just as well for destroying moving vehicles as doing drive-bys.

Loved Vice City since it came out, I feel it’s a timeless classic that may age in the light of other titles . But it’s never lost the edge . I still play it regularly on the mobile version .

I never had these squared blood and rain drops on my screen. They were always how they supposed to be.

for some of the graphical issues you mentioned like the rain drops, these were much MUCH more realistic on ps2 and xbox original. it was because the pc port had a lot of bugs

At 14 minute marker, I remember the school break times someone finding out hold down R3 when starting a vigilante mission, moving to a second car let go and it let you do vigilante in that car spread like wildfire. (Fixes the wanted level problem), I completed it that day ... and now I feel old

In all my years of playing vice city. One thing I learned is that you should always save after every mission so that way when you die you can just reload and start over with all your weapons and armor. Great video btw! Vice city is my all time favorite game. My only complaint is that vice city should of been larger with more extras to do.

About the vigilante missions: when I played it I would get a high enough wanted level so the fbi cheetas would spawn. Then steal one and constantly respray it :)

really enjoy the work you've put into this channel. Love this mini documentary reviews on the old school GTA games & your clear & calm delivery is also refreshing. Keep up the good work!

GTA Vice City was not just the first GTA game I ever played back in 2004/2005 or something. It was also the very first game I ever played that had "violence" and shooting in it. I visited my older cousine every day so I could play this fantastic game on her PC. Loved it back in the day and still love it today :)

The reason why the car disappears every time you look away is that, GTA Vice City has very low draw distance because of the hardware limitations. By using mods you can bypass this draw distance problems making use of the powerful PCs of today

Still own my original PS2 copy my dad was kind enough to buy me in '02! So many great memories - I've completed Vice City at least 6 times. Looking forward to the Definitive Edition 💜

Vice City and Vice City Stories are my favorite GTA games. VCS is still in my PS2 and I still play it religiously. Something about the 3D world that seemed good fun compared to the HD era which I feel is too immersive. You just can't beat the celebrity voices and pop culture references these games pulled in either.

6:32 "When hollywood actors are used in games, it breaks immersion"
I'm really confused by that logic tbh. When you watch a movie with an actor you already know, that doesn't break immersion, so why would it in the game? It's never broke my immersion in any game i've played before.

My musical life changed on December 25th 2002. My older brother got vice city I was 8 he was 15. But I was only allowed to drive and do taxi/paramedic missions. But the music changed my life. Now 27 and my top favorite band is Electric Light Orchestra. Gold by spandeau ballet is a motivational thing for me. In short the GTA series changed my musical life for the better. I wish we could get gta 6 in vice city. If they never make another gta I just wish they’d make a sixth install in Vice City in present day
