Here are the steps you have to follow to:
Go to Google My Maps and create a map.
Make your map public.
Generate an embed code for your map.
Add your Google Map API key to the embed code.
Add the embed code to the Text tab on your WordPress page editor.
Preview the map and save your page.

You left out the crucial part: what block do I paste the html in? I don´t have a preexisting contact form on the site I want to paste the map. you just added it to a block that was already there, you didn´t start from scratch.
