Thousands of evacuees from Afghanistan are passing through Ramstein Air Base in Germany on their way to a new life in the US. CNN takes you inside the base and speaks with a Delta Airlines pilot who flew evacuees from Ramstein to the US.

I have turned teary to watch the events taking place in Afghanistan. I am really moved by the account of Delta Pilot why he was participating in the transportation of evacuees. God bless all the evacuees.

The difference in the facial expressions of the evacuees in Ramstein vs. those of people waiting in Kabul is astonishing and beautiful; they look so content and relaxed, smiling even.
