Asking for help when needed 'is' a sign of being a great leader

I would have to add, and admit, that pride and feeling burdensome can be a huge barrier to getting help.

There’s also a very important distinction between taking responsibility, and accepting defeat.

Sometimes it’s easier to accept personal failure and fall back on discipline, than it is to to simultaneously recognize personal failure and immediately push through to admit that, rally the humility required, and complete the task at hand.

This is especially true when it becomes a personal barrier that is repeated — it is _not_ difficult to become resentful of others for utilizing outside resources and _’only’_ succeeding because they were helped along the way. It’s extremely common.

You can inadvertently pump up your own ego by attributing the success of others to external factors. It’s not a good road to go down for your own well being.

What if a team member is weak?  Like, he can do it himself if he just pushes past his comfort zone, but he won't because he's physically and mentally weak.  And helping him this one time (even though it's everytime) won't prevent him from asking for help again.  Basically a guy that doesn't pull his own weight.  Is it ok to say, "Man the fuck up and do it yourself you lazy, shiftless turd!"?This guy was my best friend who actually got me the job, because I guess he thought I would do most of the heavy lifting for him.

What if you have "countless" times asked for assistance and it seems to fall on "deaf ears, " how do you proceed?

My older brother would never help me or say absolutely to anything unless it benefited him.

I never actually helped my whole life and it just made everything worse
