How to set up your digital converter box

I remember the confusion when these Digital Converters were starting to come out and all the endless commercials reminding you to switch if you had an analog TV.

Attention everyone.
I agree with John Smith although cable companies don't work like that so if you have cable generally you'll still need a cable box if viewing on an analog TV that does not have the letters SDTV on them. The good news is if you do have an analog TV that has the letters SDTV on it you won't need a converter box at all whether you have cable or not with the exception of if you have a VCR or a DVD recorder. The good news is the converter box can be hooked up separately to the DVD recorder or VCR as long as you have at least two antennas or you can use a splitter to separate how it's hooked up to the TV. Remember to use the A/V cables to hook up the VCR or DVD recorder to the TV even if the red audio input jack isn't showing chances are you can still hear the TV just fine the way it is. The cable is a whole different story if you have a cable box but if you don't the good news is you can still pick up cable channels on the analog TV that has the letters SDTV on it just by rescanning the TV like you would a converter box or a flatscreen TV. Please note the HD channels will always be widescreen so the black bars on the top and bottom of the screen are normal.

In DTV with converter for an analog tv or a flat actual tv, use an exterior antenna to get a better reception

It works better if you have a outdoor antenna. Connect it to the antenna then it would get a better view.
