Was it a mistake coming to Amed? Bali.

Today we travel from Ubud to Amed on the north eastern coast of Bali by bus.

At the bus office I meet I driver with a sore back, and Mary-Anne who is a seventy five year-old travel on her way to Munduk. I ask Mary-Anne what some of the challenges are for her as an older traveler.

Along the way are stopped on the road because of people felling coconuts onto the road, but we make very good time to Amed with the journey taking only just over two and a half hours.

I stop at a restaurant once we arrive to locate my guesthouse and work out how to get via the eateries wifi. Taking lunch while I'm there I'm reminded that most of the time local street side food or simple warung food is much tastier than what is often offered from tourist restaurants.

All in all a quick hassle-free trip from Ubud to Amed.

Thanks to Adam from sanur Diaries introducing me to your channel.
I'm loving your chats with people. Especially the snippets in Indonesian. I studied it in Canberra 40 years ago but never used it so I'm in the process of refreshing it. Your word choice is pretty easy for me to follow. Their replies are still a work in progress for me😂

Thank you for the refreshing tour and the introduction. I hope you get the chance to visit hidden tourist spots such as white sandy beaches in the mountains, saltwater pools in caves, etc

“Work out what your bottom line is.”
What a brilliant insight, and she is so right. Too many people try and travel like others do, you need to find what works for; what makes me feel safe, where your boundaries are, and what blows your skirt up.
Great video Wayne! 😊

Maryanne was wonderful, its traveler's like these if you give them a chance of being heard can share you a wealth that if you take the time to listen can carry you through the rest of your life of traveling, it could be the smallest most insignificant thing they say that could make life so much more bearable. The old boy with the bad back has been driving with them for years...more than 2 decades i have been traveling with him on Perama.
Thats a great room for RP150k mate

Really enjoyed your video, thank you. Finally someone taking the bus and travelling light! Just one thing - if the aircon is on, the door should be shut. ;-)

Amed is our most favourite place in Bali, only due to the amazing snorkeling which is my passion. We always come here for a week during our annual visit to Bali. The scooter rides into the hills are also stunning.☺

What a breath of fresh air Mary-Anne was W. Safety and cleanliness are my two non-negotiables as well. Your homestay looks great! I recently discovered one about 30 minutes out of Sanur. $20 per night including a lobster breakfast. My local friends were sceptical when I told them, but it was fantastic. Enjoy Amed 🙏🙏
