“Was there anything else?” The most British question during a surrender ever.

"Was there anything else?"
"Well, our archeological division is currently looking for the Ark of the Covenant. By the way, you haven't seen a funny American with a brown fedora, have you?"

“Was there anything else?”
“Well, since you asked, we’re seeking the holy grail!”

"Sir, they said no."
"What do you mean 'no'? This wasn't a yes or no question..."

My dad took me to the cinema to see A Bridge Too Far. I was born in 1970. I remember being amazed at all the parachutes in the sky on the huge cinema screen when they were flying and gliding into the area.

This is not The Bridge at Remagen 1969, this is A Bridge Too Far 1977.

Best British humour. They wanted the British to surrender and it was met with the best "You're having a laugh, we aint surrendering"

The German soldier should’ve received an Academy award for just the scene alone! His expressions are priceless!

Since a lot of people seem to lack the context of this scene:
The germans are not the ones surrendering here.
They are offering the british soldiers a chance to surrender, as they were heavily outnumbered and deep in enemy territory.
The white flag held by the german soldier is not a sign of defeat, but a sign of coming in peace to deliver a message.
The British would end up losing this battle.

This also makes the British response so much funnier and explains the surprised look on the german soldiers face, considering these men had just signed their own deaths.

The best line of the whole movie.
And there were many to choose from.

“We haven’t the proper facilities…” Absolute classic British vocabulary there.
