The Ear cup are designed to cut off ambient noise or swivel back behind the ears to allow users to hear their surroundings. Adjustable headband slides for a perfect fit. Extendable earcups also pivot up, down and side-to-side to ensure a plush and flexible fit around the ears. The Beats by Dr. Dre Mixr are designed with a slick matte finish, durability in mind for convenient transport. Theses babies crank out sound; and I mean crank out sound. These were designed to be a club audio experience and you really feel it. But before we get there in the review, let look at some of the other functionality of the Beats by Dr. Dre Mixr. The Mixrs also functions as a hands free headset; here calls are very clear and audible. With clean audio on both the mic and headphones themselves. The daisy chain feature of the headphones work well; though it is important to not, the connected headphones to the Beats by Dre Mixr does shave a reduced audio level in terms of volume.

Now the most important part, how good are they listen to music. I must add this first, the Mixr are created by DJ David Guetta, and is designed to match his style of music. I can tell you that when listen to hip-hop, house, techno, and pop. These headphones excel greatly, with some nice rich bass, clean sound with high audible level. If you like loud audio, but clear sound. the Mixr do that well, its also got a solid bass kick. I would say the Mixr are not for every type of music. But if you are a an aspiring DJ and House, Pop, Hip-Hop, Techno are your scene then look to pic this up.

I think these are better than solo HD's cuz solo's are more relying on the bass while the Mixr's are more relying on quality to hear lyrics while still keeping a good amount of bass.

Sound isolation is very good. Really can't hear anything ootside the music your listening too. Leakage, starts increasing once you volume moves past 80%

Mixr if you like house, dubstep, techno, HipHop

perfect for dubstep, you will see some finger prints. But you are provided with a cleaning cloth. I have large ears and I didn't have a problem with fit.

neither, you can get better headphones for at least 100-200 dollars less, but if you really want beats and you're willing to pay 400 bucks for them, the pros

and they're really detailed as well with a wide soundstage so you feel like you're actually in an orchestral hall while listening. Detail is doubly important with classical if you ask me. K701 are probably the most revealing phones you can get at the price point.

What do you mean without talk controls, with my Studios I can use the button on the cord to control my music and also to talk to people during calls.

Yes they are real comfortable but not at first you do have to put them on the box to stretch them out when your not using them but after that they are great. I did that for about a week and they feel solid on your head not to tight but comfortable and not felling lime they will fall off.

Lol WHAT, for classical? seriously? Are you talking about home headphones, or out-and-about ones?

If its for listening indoors at home and looks aren't a thing, tell him to get AKG K701 from Thomann (if you live in the EU) or elsewhere if in the states. The K701s are supposed to be neutral but I think the highs are slightly boosted and they have a very bright sound signature which seems to work well for violins and orchestras.

Do they still have good bass even tho they don't have as much bass as the others

the mixrs are okay headphones for listening to music but you just can't spin with them. as you said, they replicate the club vibe which is the last thing you need when you're trying to beat match or finding a cue point on a track. if you're looking for headphones to spin with, you can't go wrong with Xone XD 53's. they'll last forever and they're more comfortable and have better sound distribution. also, when you're spinning for a crowd while wearing beats, they tend to turn on you quicker.
