actually the mixrs are comfortable, but you have stress the headband so it will strech.
it worked for me, and its quiet comfortable.

Good review. If people want a rapper can they should look at the SMS Street on-ear instead IMO. Better comfort and better sound than the Mixr. I was actually surprised how good they sounded considering how horrible the Street over-ear was. Not exactly neutral but with Hip Hop and Dubstep the kids listen to you don't necessarily want perfect neutrality.
Still if you only care about sound there are better options.

Hey man I see that on the side of your beats it says "beats" while on other products it has the monster logo or it says "mixr" I'm just wondering why is that? I have the same pair as you got.,

I've been a Dj for going on 8 years now, and Djs famous, or amature do not use sennheisers or audio techna they use beats, the noise canceling is the best and the bass is what's needed for beat matching I almost never in my life seen a Dj wear audio technica or sennheisers if anything they would use Sony, pioneer or numark headphones if not beats, Beats are a Dj headphone as well as for hip hop of you like rock buy other things but for people that listen to hip hop you can't argue with them because bass is what drives the music and beats lead in that of course you can hear voices highs mid Ect but people who listen to hip hop rnb Ect want bass that beats provide beats just aren't aimed towards rock because hip hop is the best trending music in this century that's it people wake up and stop complaining.

these were designed for dj's, so that means it has to be loud and isolate well, and therefore, because they are on ear, they have a lot of clamping force. even dj's with bigger heads use them, because they are loud, with a lot of bass, look stylish and have good isolation

that would be fantastic if you could! the m-80s i think would be a good review too.. i haven't listened to them personally but the praise they get is undeniable

i'm not sure if this is enough of an impression but after looking at the frequency curve on the momentums on innerfidelity, its actually pretty flat not boosted compared to "basshead" headphones like ath-m50s vmoda m-100s etc. i did listen to them briefly at futureshop and bass was not the first thing that stuck out to me. i thought the clarity in the vocals and the treble not being too strident or harsh to stick out more so than the bass. I thought the bass not enough to be called "bassy"

the story is that I went to a trip to hong kong about a week ago and I tried to search for the vsonic gr07 that you've recommended and they are sold out all over the place even in Sino centre which is the best place I've been to in Hong Kong. they sell the sennheiser hd 800 for $1000 bucks and other headphones at a huge discount...

Lachlan, I hear what you're saying about Beats reshaping the public's perception of what a consumer headphone 'should' cost, but if I take that to its logical extension we should be auditioning everything from Apple, B&O, Bose and the other lifestyle brands where you are paying as much - or more - for form over function. I appreciated what Tyll had to say in his balanced review of the Beats Solo 2 HD, but seeing row after row of Beats fakes (priced accordingly, but fakes nonetheless) in different parts of Asia makes me cringe when I consider what it would be like if we had the same situation with Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic and the other established headphone brands. 3 of the 6 or so vids that YT threw up next to yours are dedicated to separating real Beats from fake - I'm much happier not having to make the distinction at all. Thanks for the vid.

To make them more comfortable put them over the box they come in over night. That will loosen them up a bit. That really helped me!

I tried them today and I was actually quite surprised: compared to the beats solo or even the studio old gen the sound is pretty decent in the mids, bass are still pronouced but not as intrusive. I only tried for fiew minutes so I cannot really say about comfort, but didn't seem too bad. Best quality built I have found so far in beats though.

I own a pair of Sennheiser Momentum and the sound quality, even though a bit "flat" is way better; BUT for the same price of the Momentum on-ear I think the Mixr may stand a chance, both in term of appeal and audio quality IF you mostly enjoy pop and other genres wich don't require perfection in the tones, but may benefy with a push on the bass.

I think i found you're old review, was it called 'Closed Portable Circumaural Shooting Gallery'? Just wondering which is better for metal/rock and gaming with a good soundstage out of the ue6000 and the Sony MDR-1R?

Great honest review! I do find them to be the best sounding beats hp so far. Btw I can't to see your review on the es700s. They are really great and I almost bought a pair. But my attention was caught by the Fidelio X1, any chance of you reviewing the Philips?

Job well done on the review, but given how overly expensive Beats headphones are. I'll pass. Any chance you might review the Yamaha Eph-100 or Vsonic gr07?
