I love that she immediately recognizes him. It doesn't matter how many regenerations, she knew him when she saw his eyes.

Notice how when they said "you will drop any weapons on your person", The Doctor dropped his spoon.
Nice callback to 'Robot Of Sherwood".

"Words are his weapons. When did they stop being ours?"
That line hit hard.

“What’s he doing now?”
“I think he’s finishing his soup.” 😂

For those wondering why Gallifrey is on High alert. The last time they saw The Doctor was during the Time war and his 3 incarnations. War, 10, and 11. They remember the wrong they did to 10 with trying to become creatures of a higher existence...yeeeh they knew when he came back he would be pissed.

Always found it weird how everyone just... stared... at the doctor while he ate his soup. He definitely felt weird about it too.

Peter Capaldi says more with his eyes and his face than most actors could say in a page and a half of script. He's intimidating as hell, without ever saying a word.

I just realized the eleventh doctor probably thought bunk beds were cool because he slept on one as a kid. "It's a bed... with a ladder!"

Can we talk about this for a second: He walked forward and the giant spaceship with the huge blaster... Backed. Up... A lot

this is the true origin of the Doctor. Not some otherworldly being of infinite importance to Timelord history, but a peasant from the desert who made his way into the academy before becoming the greatest of his people whilst never forgetting his humble origins.

How could you not love Capaldi, damn. He doesn't need to say a word and still you understand him crystal clear. Brilliant actor!

This is what makes The Doctor special. You can see some of his origin in this small scene. He grew up in the Drylands of Gallifrey, away from the Capital of the Time Lords. It explains why he doesn't have the same dress sense as the others. He came from humble beginnings, my guess is the others never let him forget. He was basically a nobody before he became a high ranking Time Lord. Just some bloke who wanted more than what he had, and decided that Gallifrey was just not the place for him. As much as I like Jodie, this is what makes The Doctor special. You don't have to be some all powerful demigod to be special. Sometimes the less you tell, the better.
Another observation I noticed was that he actively chooses to stand out. Time Lord Society is based on observation and gathering knowledge. To do this, Time Lords need to blend in to not draw attention to themselves when in other time periods. The main purpose of the TARDIS Chameleon Circuit is to blend in, yet he keeps it as a Police Box. And despite having a wardrobe full of outfits (which I'm sure are styles from past, present, and future of all planets) that he can use to blend in, each incarnation settles on only one style. The Doctor is not an idiot. He/She is smart, observant, clever, and adaptive. They could walk into any time period on any planet and could blend in perfectly if they chose to. Instead, they chose to stand out in a crowd. This tells us that The Doctor never quite fit in on Gallifrey, no matter how much they tried. Maybe deep down, The Doctor is just trying to find the one place where they can belong.

I really like how he strolls back into town almost like an unarmed Clint Eastwood western. Just calm, with the 'still waters' run deep psychology behind the eyes the subtle stillness of the body.
When Clint, or the unnamed Cowboy, arrived in town the entire place came almost to a stand still.

Underneath every glance or motion it must have felt like any movement would set the dynamite of emotion off behind his eyes. Yet when no dynamite exploded it almost became worse because of the fear of what his actions might bring to them.

What he did was far stronger than any explosion.

He was the Doctor. And he was home.

Love these scenes. Not huge on the Clara storyline but being back on gallifrey. Properly. Not just in a barn or a flashback. The classic Who inspired soundtrack too

I love the subtle callback to robot of sherwood when he's asked to lay down weapons and he puts down his spoon
