That dark comment about the confession dial at 1:05 is why I love Doctor Who so much.

The Time Lords taking what's MEANT to be a way to make peace with oneself. Then just twisting it to this haunting torture device, it REALLY goes to show how far they're willing to go to ruin The Doctor. Frankly it also shows how far they'll go to get their way, but I guess the entirety of their actions in the later half of the Time War is also a big example of the cruelty of the Time Lords.

Character writing is such a blessing, lol.

If the Time Lords were so scared of a creature standing in Gallifrey's ruins, then maybe they shouldn't have made so many enemies who would want to do that, especially in attempting to alter fate. It's one of those classic tragic prophecies - the harder you fight it, the more parts you put into position to make it happen.

2:47 Ohila had Eighth Doctor flashbacks from that response

Dalek and Time lord was just a guess. It could just have well been a Cyberman and Time Lord hybrid that did it...

12th channeling The 4th Doctor when he mocks The General and Time Lord hats. Love it! Capaldi is a fantastic actor.

It’s nice to see the Doctor really respecting the Time Lord culture. Like how he was angry how they misused his confession dials. I think my biggest disappointment about this story, aside from the General’s out of place comments after regenerating, is the fact that Galifrey feels like a prop.

If you take all points of the prophecy of the Hybrid, and what is said in Hell Bent, then you would come to the same conclusion I have. And that is that the Hybrid is the Doctor and Clara together and not the Cybermen with Time Lord powers. Do I think Chibnall tried to make the Time Lord Cybermen the Hybrid, yes, but he did not think the prophecy thru to the end.

There's some weird editing in the scene where the Doctor and Ohila talk. 00:45 Some of the Confession Dial stuff seems like ADR, then that reaction with the Doctor exclaiming "Afraid?!" seems to be reused from a slightly different version of the scene. Ohila doesn't use the word "afraid".

What is brilliant about this episode is that it connects to what happens in series 12, the Master destroys Gallifrey at a time when it is politically weak and vulnerable, because the Doctor left it that way.

Also the Master is totally the Hybrid, a hybrid of Cyber and Time Lord, standing in the ruins of gallifrey, unravelling the web of time (his revelation to the Doctor leading to the release of Time in Flux part 3), breaking a billion billion hearts to heal his own.

Do I think it's intentional? No... but it still slaps

What I don't like about the Time Lords, here, is that they are jumping to conclusions based on next to fucking nothing. And they're doing that because they're scared.

They're literally like those kids from Disney or Nickelodeon sitcoms who do something absolutely idiotic out of fear for something that may be blown entirely out of proportion or something that does not exist at all except, here, that bad decision got The Doctor's companion killed. The Hybrid could be just some entirely fictional monster in a bedtime story meant for little kids.

So, no, The Doctor *wasn't* cruel *or* cowardly for kicking Rassilon and the High Council off of Gallifrey. The Time Lords got scared, and made a decision that's so fucked up that you wondered why The Doctor didn't just let the Daleks destroy them all! They killed Clara, my favorite character in the entire show and thanks to that (and the fact that she was brought back via the Extraction Chamber), The Doctor rained Hell on the Time Lords and literally made their already-bad situation 100 times worse. Because house arrest just wasn't enough for Rassilon and the High Council, I guess.

I only just pieced together that the Hybrid could be the Master. It all fits too well
