Removing RAM while PC is running

Removing RAM while your PC is running? What happens?

Because the motherboard without the ram is like : daffaq happen

I have tried this before. With my old mega trends pc runs windows xp and I opened the ram BOOM!! RAINBOW SCREEN cause I'm running a game while opening the ram. After I inserted the ram back and press the reset button windows xp still boots.
