Feeding good quality food makes a big difference.

I literally use a Walmart brand scoop-able scent free litter mixed with 1 bag of silica litter, also Walmart brand and I have zero odor. Granted I completely dump all the litter after 10-12 days.. but I never have any issues with smells.
I also have a hooded litter box with charcoal filters so I’m sure that helps. Plus only having 1 cat.
I feed him wet food with a tablespoon of dry. Twice daily
His poops really don’t smell and the silica does wonders for urine coverage

I feel like the funniest recommendation is have more litter boxes so that your whole house smells like a litter box instead of just one room😅

in the process of upgrading to stainless steel boxes, but fresh step outstretch Unscented, tidy cats Unscented, and EverClean Unscented are all working well for odor control. I’ve had them in different boxes for nearly a month now. the clumping is…so-so but i care more about odor control 😂

Odor Buster cat litter which is a Canadian brand has been the best so far, but it can be harder to get than other brands. Easier to clean, long lasting. Easy on the paws. We only have 1 litter box for our cat as we simply don’t have the square footage to add a second box, so yes, it would have to be emptied several times per day. Our cat has never had accidents because of the 1 litter box. I also have a Catit litter box, but I was debating whether to get the one with the clear plastic sides. I change the litter box once per year.

Totally agree with you about lower quality cat food (i.e.: fancy feast wet) causing smellier poop! The dry food she gets in small amounts is Open Farm Pet. Considering changing once this bag is finished. If only Vita would make her way over to greener pastures. I would be really happy if she would eat the Farmina N and D for urinary tract health or Rawz. Both companies should consider adding shreds in gravy to their lines. Maybe just maybe Vita would go for them.

the tricks are basically have a lot of money to buy multiple litter boxes or a robot, and litter that cost more than dinner at almost any restaurant

Put box in separate room and use very small negative pressure exhaust fan. What smell....

Diet and regular cleaning go a long ways. The only time we notice a smell anymore is if they have the occasional smelly. They're on a middling range wet diet so I'm fairly sure its from their food. When we're financially able I'm upgrading them to a raw diet either homemade or likely Smalls at this rate, or a mix of both.

I've heard kibble poo is so much worse and I'm grateful I decided to start with a wet dier. Turns out having a mother who took the time to researdh the best options for her dogs rubs off on you. Her dogs have been a raw diet for years and other than one who had an unknown issue come up (she wasn't able to autopsy after spending what money she could trying to save him) all her dogs have lived well into their senior years, older than most for their size and breed.

Make your own litter box deodoriser. Bicarb with some safe essential oil like rose and vanilla a little sprinkle of lavender essential oil or lavender seeds swirled in or dried mint or catnip.
Just research your essential oils to be safe.

Use baking soda. It controls smell pretty well.
Plus give them mic diet, i usually give homemade wet food in the morning, wet pouch in afternoon and for dinnner kibbles. I have 2 cats and they use 1 liiter box, alreasy i did my research and have 3 in total😅.
And put your litter box in a well ventilated room.

What do you think of bentonite vs wood pellet litter? We use bentonite but we’re considering switching to wood pellets if they provide the same benefits at a lower cost
