Woman fighting severe health problems starts new job and a Secret Santa has a surprise for her

Cristy developed what is likely an autoimmune disease after she turned 30. She was perfectly healthy with three young kids and then suddenly, she couldn’t move her body while her nervous system was attacked. She nearly died.

After being in several hospitals for about a year, Cristy was able to finally go home but her life would be forever changed. Using a walker and not able to drive her kids around, lift them, or walk unassisted, she could no longer run, dance, drive, hike or do all the things most of us take for granted.

Through it all, Cristy has developed a strong and positive attitude that she’ll do whatever she can to put herself out there in life and come out on top - especially for her kids. After searching and applying for jobs to support herself, she finally found a job at Bonneville High School a couple weeks ago. She is so excited. She comes home completely exhausted after being on her walker all day but the kids and staff at Bonneville have been amazing to her.

She is doing everything she can to be successful and try and support herself.

Secret Santa asked if we could pay Cristy a visit at her new job and surprise her with some gifts. Check out the video in the player above.

My DIL’s sister was struck down when her baby was only six weeks old. I know what a tremendous fight this Cristy had it’s by no means an easy recovery, but she has not lost her ability to smile. Thank you Secret Santa for honouring her this way

What I love about this woman is her drive to find a job and want to keep moving. She's adorable. I believe she's not going to always need that walker, my faith is her body will heal herself, my prays, hugs and love go out to the radiant smile and that positive attitude!!!!

This is one of the best ever. A woman with severe health issues that could have had a pity party, perhaps gone on disability but is instead out there doing what she can to provide for herself and her family. These are the people that deserve a hand up since they aren't seeking a hand out. Never under estimate the honor and dignity of work. And what a great role model for the students.

Christie is an amazing woman with a smile that lights up the world. She has been through so much but has not let that stop her. Her attitude and joyous spirit is contagious.
