MicroNugget: How to Create and Configure SSIS Packages

In this video, Garth Schulte covers creating and configuring SSIS packages. He further describes what are SSIS projects. He also gets you familiar with the package designer and how to collect the major components of a package, such as tasks, connections, events, parameters and variables.

After watching this video, you will know what SSIS packages are and how you can both create and configure them. Garth shows you how to do this with the SQL Server Data Tools app that comes with SQL Server 2012.

First, he shows you how to create a project within the interface. He then shows you how to configure the package associated with this project through the package designer. There he sets up both the flows and the tasks contained within the package as well as the connections between them.

Finally, he provides an example of creating a task that takes data out of an SQL server database and exports it to a flat file.
