When I first moved here all the girls I worked with from south Florida laughed in my face when I asked could there ever be a tornado. Who’s laughing now.

Florida gets many tornado each year, however many if not most are very weak. My family has lived in DeLand, FL (Daytona Beach Area) for 45 years and in that time there have been over half a dozen tornadoes, but only two were very destructive. Cloud to ground lightening strikes and hurricanes are probably a greater threat. Still, it is a pleasure not to have to drive through snow on highways during "white outs" as I did in NW PA and western NY
